The defender certainly looks like an NBA-level athlete.

My gut feeling tells me we're getting Kevin Durant, and Kyrie is coming too.

It's just a matter of how to break the news when free agency begins Sunday.

The whole "Kyrie to Brooklyn" feels like a mirage for the media to have something to talk about.

If we strikeout in FA, we should give him a mega 1 year deal. Maybe he can save Frank, who's protected ceiling was Hill.

Anyone think that Rozier would have a Oladipo like trajectory if he came to the Knicks?

Who has the space and need? Any guesses?

Honestly wouldn't be shocked if it was us if we think we have KD...As much as we all love Mitch he's not going to be ready for big time basketball yet.

Capella is not someone you trade a young big you already have for with arguably higher upside. That would legit make me root for another team

It's an overpay but it's not exactly terrible. He fits with their roster. Gives them a guy who can get 15-20 a night on decent %'s and can guard decently well. I don't get the vitriol towards it. They don't really have a go-to scorer outside of Bagley and he's still so young. Barnes can help. They have their foundation pieces and he's a nice fit around them. It's too much money but that's FA for you.

They had a chance to swing big and you spend 20% of your cap on this mediocre dude who won't even close games for you.

You're better off using that cap for assets than locking it into that deal with that guy

They still have tons of cap space after signing Barnes and what big names are really going to go to Sacramento? They're clearly already too good to tank.... I like this as a way to maximize their current core while still leaving enough flexibility to do other things. They may never be championship contenders (a lot of that hinges on how good Fox and Bagley actually become anyway) but that was likely to be the case even if they didn't sign Barnes... Barnes helps as a stable presence and a guy with deep playoff experience. He'll help those young guys come along and now I can see them fighting for 4-6 seed next year with continued internal development and if they get Al Horford who knows what could happen with the Warriors out of the picture? This obsession with either having to tank/collect bad contracts for late 1sts or being a foregone conclusion title contender needs to leave basketball. It's just unrealistic for most teams and markets. Hinkie really got every bloggers priorities and thoughts on basketball crazily out of wack because of the unique situation he was thrown into.

And this isn't directed at you but people comparing this to the THJ situation are very wrong...Barnes has much more of a track record of being a good professional and good scorer than THJ did at the time of that deal. It's an overpay but I don't mind the rationale behind it. Unlike the Knicks who were hoping for a break out that didn't happen for them

I'm of the mindset that you don't every throw away any cap away. Yeah, they have plenty. Doesn't mean you overpay this guy by 7-10 mil annually.

I have no problem with Barnes as a veteran presence who's been there, or even as a player on a contender. These kind of deals are the type that rebuilding organizations often regret down the line.

I'm just enjoying watching Morey and Pringles trade their only interior defender for another wing, even if that wing is a good defender

They don't want him if they're offering him a 4 year contract when he's eligible to get a 5 year contract instead.

Don't think he was targeted by many teams to begin with. But I get what you're saying.
