SOUL wrote:$90 mil doesn't bother me.. would've preferred 2-3 years but that's not in Vuc's best interest.

I could care less about the dollar amount. Giving him 4 years is what we will come to regret imo. Just seems like they misjudged how good of a year Vuc would have and now the Bamba pick is questionable imo. If Vuc's numbers remain the same as last year it could end up being a good deal and one that could be moved but I think it's doubtful they will.

Front loading might end up putting them in the tax (depending on Ross).

I like it...$22.5m avg yearly amount is a 21% of cap contract. A max deal for Vucevic was 30% of cap; the average starter salary is 16%-17% of cap.

If the structure is descending even better..something like $25m/$23m/$21m/$19m is solid.

It will be great if it's frontloaded, if it's not, I'm OK too, because the cap will increase anyway.

There are some good indicators he will:

Spoiler:
I used to be lukewarm on Vucevic because his offense was capped by inefficiency. But in 17-18 when he added the 3pt shot I began to gradually shift my opinion on what that cap was.

He was always a good shooter from the perimeter, so when he started stepping back a step and shifting long-two's into 3PA's I felt that if he continued to improve on that skill he could take another step.

Once Clifford arrived, I knew his systems usually focus on paint touches. Because of that, I felt Vucevic was going to get increased interior volume. In combination with another offseason of working on his 3P shooting...prior to last season, I expected Vucevic to take a solid jump in efficiency. I didn't expect all-star, but I did think his TS% would improve.

...and it did, and how he got there isn't really unsustainable. In fact, if he can shift even more volume to both those high efficiency zones (something that is very doable) there is a very good chance that his efficiency could take an even bigger jump next year.

18-19
Total FGA = 1354 / FGA < Restricted Area = 478 / FGA >3pt = 231
Morey Ball FGA = 709 or 52.4% of his offense

17-18
FGA = 840 / FGA < Restricted Area = 203 /FGA >3pt = 204
Morey Ball FGA = 407 or 48.5% of his offense
TS% =.533

16-17
FGA = 1031 / FGA < Restricted Area = 278 / FGA >3pt = 75
Morey Ball FGA = 353 or 34.2% of his offense
TS% = .498

15-16
FGA = 1046 / FGA < Restricted Area = 310 / FGA >3pt = 9
Morey Ball FGA = 319 or 29.6% of his offense
TS% = .531

14-15
FGA = 1206 / FGA < Restricted Area = 451 / FGA >3pt = 6

4yrs / $90m is two years too long.

then Bamba needs to get better to spur Orlando to move Vuc

He’ll need to show that in practice then because he won’t get the minutes on the court.

It’s amazing when you consider what people speculated Vucevic will get and other inferior centers and currently making.

If it’s front loaded this is definitely an amazing deal.

I agree totally. If it is a declining deal then I think it serves both parties well.

I feel the same way and this is coming from a guy who was very disappointed in his play in the playoffs. Actually thought he was going to get more. Looks like he really wanted to stay in Orlando and I can definitely respect that.

Feels like I haven't posted about actual hoops in forever.

Off Topic------- Does anyone know anything about the rays games? If you need to buy tickets on field level or just get nose bleeds for cheap and walk down? It looks like no one ever goes to the games anymore? Ive been told they dont care. Thanks

Yea, teams can offer all they want but that doesn’t mean Vucevic will entertain any offers. He just had a kid and loves Orlando and simply wants to stay here.

Gotcha, but regardless it's not a done deal yet. So I'll comment more on it if/when he resigns.

Exactly, it helps Orlando for obvious reasons and why would Vuc reject more money now than in the 4th year?

Please entertain us with your unrealistic definition of an amazing contract?
