Don't know if I love Barrett and LaVine together.

I think they should just keep Lavine/Brogdon/White/Otto. That's good backcourt depth for the next 5 years. If I'm them I'm flipping Markannen for a stretch 4 who can actually guard and fits better with Wendell.

3 years left on his contract FYI. Coming off 24/7/5 season.

Kemba - Allen
Dotson - Trier
Barrett - Frank
Blake - Knox
Mitch - Kornet

Is a 50 win team and an Eastern Conference contender.

He puts up nice numbers but I don't think his impact is elite anymore. The league has passed him by, as it has most traditional 4s. Not saying he's not a good player, but he won't lead a team to 50 wins anymore, and he doesn't exactly have the skill set (nor the salary) of a role player.

He's like Kevin Love or Demar DeRozan, good players who are kind of stuck in no man's land in today's league. Players without a country, so to speak. I don't see the upside of signing Blake tbh.

Honestly, I don't disagree.

I'm still not getting all this talk about the Nets being a better win now team, the "extraordinary" things they were able to accomplish and how "they know what they're doing". They're a .500 team. Without D'Angelo Russell having a resurrection season they'd have been right there with the Knicks and the rest of the stink pack in the lottery hunt. Russell? He's an UFA and no guarantee to even return. And 3 of their other key rotation players from last season are also free agents. The reality is there is no guarantee that half the team from last seasons 42 win season will even be back. Russell and Carroll by themselves count $45 million in cap holds. Rondae-Hollis Jefferson and Ed Davis another $14 milion in cap hold. They'd have to renounce them all to sign 2 max players.

I said the same thing to Nets fans on the GB and apparently those players literally had nothing to do with their .500 success, only Russell. Easy replacements, which I doubt. They have two max slots with decent players. LeVert who is always injured, Allen who is not as good as Mitch in my opinion, Dinwiddee who is decent, and Joe Harris who again, decent. I don't see it. I never have.

I disagree with that. Detroit’s roster is pretty awful. 36% from 3 on 7 attempts per game last year and he’s still elite in transition.

Too much Amare vibes for me.
For all we know, this past season could’ve been his peak. Our luck, we get him and he starts an aggressive regression.

Blake was actually able to adjust his game to his declining athleticism though unlike Amare. But yeah just have a terrible feeling the knees are a ticking time bomb

I want Anferne Simons bad. Would love to take on a bad Portland contract to steal him. I’d prob trade DSJ for him.

Legit I did a double take looking up his highlights on Youtube after I got him in BAF. Dude dropped 37 last game of the year, had no clue

I'd definitely take LaVine.

LaVine has improved every season since he came into the league, despite the ACL tear.

Guys like that are not only talented, but they clearly put in the work. If we have a chance to snatch him (which is highly unlikely), we should jump on that opportunity. Dude will be a legit All-Star, I think it's only a matter of time until his impact starts to match his production on the court.

The Bulls have a sick young core. I could see them pulling an upset against a higher seed in the first round in 2 years.

So we can be like the Celtics?

Better than throwing 2-3 year overpays and being a treadmill team

It actually isn’t better.

The new lottery odds means even if you win 30+ games you can still got a top pick.

Yeah, I was watching that game. I loved him out of the draft. He’s so toolsy. Once he learns the game, the sky’s the limit for him.

Russilo (who's becoming one of my favorite guys to listen to by the way) just said on the Bill Simmons podcasts that one of his most trusted talent evaluators/scouts told him Simons looks like a flat out stud right now and that no one should be surprised if he has a break out year (I'm paraphrasing). He's basically saying that it's gonna happen for him.

this is a big deal right? If they keep Russell's cap hold they can't get 2 maxes without other trades... Can they renounce the qualifying offer?

Formality/ insurance it seems. They can pull it if needed. The problem would lie if a team offers him a deal giving the nets only 48 hours to match & Kyrie takes his time committing.

I mean, I don't really care it took him 48 minutes to do it, you drop 37 on a legitimately okay team and lead a comeback from like 20 (I think) down, that's talent

It's just a matter of bringing it out and getting consistent with it

I keep seeing this opinion and understand it in a vacuum, but I don't get how 2 year deals preclude trading for a star when the Knicks have already struck out. They own all of their 1st rounders and suck, so they're worth their weight in gold. They also own two additional 1st rounders, one completely unprotected.

The problem with taking on bad contracts in order to acquire picks is that those bad contracts are so undesirable in the first place and could actually hamstring trading for a star in the future - the same price you extracted to take those deals on is going to be turned back on you if you try to use those pieces in a star trade. If you sign 2 year deals for passable players they become much more usable in those trades, though you obviously wouldn't have additional picks on the other side of the equation.

It seems like it's much closer to a zero sum game than it appears. You either have excess pick ammo to deal but have to pay more because your cap pieces are less desirable, or you have less pick ammo to deal, but can pay less because your cap pieces aren't garbage.

It died cause it wasn't click bait enough for the 2 dozen or so Net fans that show up at Barclay's center for each game to keep running with it. Here that KD and Kyrie? It'll be 4 dozen when you guys sign up.

...and on cue.
