I think he'll be one of those dudes that doesn't put up big stats but is the type a coach wants out there because he does a bunch of smart little winning things and won't be afraid to take a big shot.

Don’t know how you can honestly say that given the numbers Ja Morant put up

Happy to be proven wrong though

Typical GM rationalising. But nothing we didn't expect

I think I read Jerome had the best AST/TO ratio last season in college.

He’s a baller
I think he gets minutes... then replaces TJohnson next yr. Or even this yr by the trade deadline. I like TJo, but this kid looks to be a better shooter, an adequate passer ... if he rounds out the rest of his game at least to TJos level... The FO is smiling.

I think both these draft picks were nice insurance policies for the probable departure of TJo and possible exit of Oubre. They pan out, we either have some chunky worthwhile trade chips or cap space. And neither gets thrown into the fire
What ? Me Worry ?

I think Jerome will be a great backup to Rubio and is probably a better pairing with Booker. Booker with his high usage, will have times where he dominates the ball, because it's in his nature, and Rubio will not be an off ball threat. I'd probably stagger Rubio and Booker some...to where at least one is on the floor at all times, and let Rubio play a lot with the Johnsons, Kaminsky and Oubre.

Booker sure will need to learn to use a lot of different hats next season.

Why would we move TJ?

$19m expiring could net a really useful piece

Usually used for bad contract dumps along with picks. I don't think we want to take on long term money and I think we like Tyler. But sure, if the Wizards want to dump Beal or something, I'll take it. But we say this every year with expirings and they are usually useless, starting with Monroe's.

Depends who's available. I think if there is a long term piece we like that another team is trying to offload then I think we'll do it. Last few seasons has been with McD and he was looking for picks and assets, not necessarily winning pieces. JJ might view it differently. If a guy like....Aaron Gordon for example becomes available

Yeah, same thing with Chandler and Rivers expiring contracts ... teams would have to send us crappy multi-year contracts and a draft pick to get Tyler and we don't want that. Expiring contracts are mostly overrated unless the team is in the first year of a rebuild (e.g., Grizz or the Nets and Cavs of the past). With Booker and Ayton on board it doesn't make sense.

That contract is really useful in trading for a disgruntled star. It would be TJ, maybe a young player, and pick. Any time a team has to move a star player, that is what they are looking for--an expiring, a young promising young player, and picks.
