With Kawhi going to LAL. Why even try and win? Don’t sign Durant.

Lebron may be washed up in 2 years by the time KD is ready?
Besides, the warriors looked unbeatable and they just lost a fluke finals to the raptors, weird things can happen

Why would he do that?
Are you sure he wants to be with the Nets after this? He’s restricted. If they try to match, he can opt out. Guys have pride. They don’t like watching their team being in love with another guy... especially when they play the same position.
Great post!
If one can be neutral between fanbases, it seems like the Nets overplayed their hand and as you said, pissed off their young star.
That all the young stars around the league noticed how the Nets treated Dlo, can be a future detriment. Young stars like in Boston noticed, for sure.
Whereas the Knicks didn't even offer a feeler package to the Pelicans for ADavis. Perry and Mills agreed that our young talent has more value. Noticed how Dolan didn't meddle or overrode the decision. Kudos.
The Team never flinched on the pick of RJ Barrett, feeling as many do that the original 2019 projected #1, was the selection without question. Nor did they trade away anyone from the young crop for cheap picks ( Ntilikina, YES!).
The Nets have already broken up some of last year's team, Allen Crabbe a popular player. Now Irving is praised as a great pickup by their fanbase and have totally ignored Dlo's: 1. Age 2. Popularity 3: All-star 4: Accomplishments. An accomplishment that KP and Carmelo together couldn't.
Dlo has been dismissed by their fanbase and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. Not even the NBA experts have brought this up. Know why? It's because they're not the New York Knicks! Never.

I like Hahn but the man said a few days ago that " The Lakers not in the game for Kawhi" and hyped up our chances. Kinda bad look imo. Nobody knows nothing and thats OK. No need to get people hopes up.

They won't be as good as people fear.
LeBron is aging. AD is overrated and a second option at best on a contender (which he would be, to be fair). Kawhi is great, but it remains to be seen how he fits personality-wise next to LeBron and a (I predict) unhappy AD. His health is also a question mark to some extent.
This is not KD to the Warriors, which was downright scary. I agree we shouldn't sign Durant, but not because we don't have a chance against the Lakers or anything like that. You never know what can happen.

Re: Offseason Thread: Sunday Funday can't come fast enough
I think if we really weren't going to get anyone big and were moving forward with the rebuild, taking on salary and assets makes alot of sense.
I'd also get keeping a vet or two around, but why get guys that would get us 9th place in the lottery when we should just be acquiring top 5 talent. I get no one wants us to have the worst record in the league again, but I say you let the kids play and take whatever they give you WINS OR LOSSES.

Why does a meeting mean Lakers sign KL? What I miss?

Agreed. What makes the most sense is short term TOR deal and go to LAC down the road if TOR can keep a competitive team together as guys like Lowry, Gasol, Ibaka age. Who do they have that is young and good besides Siakim (Vanfleet!?!)

You'd think Kawhi would want to carry and hand Lebron another chip and solidify status as GOAT? It'll more true to Kawhi himself, to look for his place on the mantle.
The battles between the Lakers and the Clippers would be epic and good for the NBA.

Re: Offseason Thread: Sunday Funday can't come fast enough
Hahn just said it’s less about KD wanting to be a Knick and more about some in the Knick organization not too sure about signing him. Especially with history of McDysse & Amar’e.
Said the KD to Nets talk is only happening because Knicks aren’t fully committing yet. Thus why “we want to see medical”. A leverage play.
If no injury, said there would be no KD to BK talk right now.

LeBron, AD, Magic (most likely) will all be there to suck his balls.
