Speaking of 2010... where is he? Anyone following him could tell he wasn't bullshitting. Was calling stiff BEFORE it happened and obviously has ties to KL.

that would be a delicate task- who do you think can handle that responsibility?
George Hill would be perfect.
Just became a free agent too, would be a nice pickup, got that veteran experience that we desperately need.

I knew some of you would eat up this silly rumor!
Zero chance Kawhi comes here to waste a season of his career to play with kids while KD rehabs but it's a nice dream.

Thugger HBC wrote:thebuzzardman wrote:Thugger HBC wrote:This D-lo hate is madness. Dude is young and can ball. he's no Timmy at all.
Timmy couldnt replace g-all stars.
Here's how the analogy holds.
He's not timmy. He's better than that. Just like Randle isn't some "no D scrub who only puts up #'s on bad teams"
BOTH guys are in a position to be paid more than they are worth (initially), at a time when their value is still "rising" (hopefully).
THJr was signed for 17(or 18?) per, for 4 years. It was recognized that it was a bit of an overpay. Mills tried to sugercoat it as saying it was "fair" but that he might even develop and exceed it. Didn't happen.
Now you have two guys in a similar, though BETTER, career arc, but who will also command a MAX salary. DLo for sure, Randle strong possibility.
The THJr comparisons are just a shorthand analogy of possibly overpaying for talent you HOPE rises, but might not.
Both players could blossom and be worth, truly, every cent of 23 million. Both players could exceed the 23 million of value. Both players could fall short, feel like they are worth 5-7 million less than they got paid, and occupy a nice chunk of cap space for 4 years.
It's a risk, and the Knicks, and us as fans, would have to trust their scouts.
And I know "worth" is whatever somebody can get a team to pay. I'm trying to assign a general "bang for buck" with a player, and that is particularly important for max cats.
Nah, I don't see the comparison at all.
Timmy wasn't an overpay, he was grossly overpaid. His best skill is hoping he got hot from the field. That's it, he wasn't good at anything else basketball-wise. He's not a good shooter passer or defender, and can only play sg, and that's because he's 6-6.
I realize the team has it's eyes on certain players and want to remain flexible in the rebuild. I'm cool with it. I don't think D-Lo has even been linked to the Knicks in any fashion, but he is a quality player at a position the Knicks have no one truly qualified in as of today.
Ok. Let's take it further. I haven't seen a PF REMOTELY close to what Randle does, on the Knicks, for a while. No, Noah Vonleh didn't and doesn't count. Right now, there is exactly ZERO PF's on the roster. Extending your logic, the Knicks should:
Max DLo
Max Randle
And call it a day.
And btw, again, the analogy for THJr is still on, because it's about paying a guy above his current value.
It's hilarious various people complain about the Knicks and their lack of fiscal restraint etc over the years, and the first moment FA hits and there's a whiff of disappointment, they want to throw the whole bag at two players who've been ok, then had ONE good year each.
This isn't minimizing or putting the players down. It's just I thought the smart teams saved the max money for the truly maximum guys and if not, rolled things over. And by maximum players, I'm saying HEALTHY KD or Kawhi, Kyrie, MAYBE Butler.
But since DLo is all that max salary wise, lets just throw the whole bag at Tobias Harris too.
He's still young. Only 4 years older than DLo. Also a PF. Position of need. At a position the Knicks "have no one truly qualified at".
And honestly, there are worse things the Knicks could do than going DLo\Randle or DLo\T Harris. Especially Harris, who at least put up 20ppg or close 2 or 3 seasons

maybe we'll still tank and give kawhi a heavy load management year. would he really take a year off to wait for kd when he could win another championship next year. i still don't see it. would love to be wrong though.
kawhi playing and KD on the bench could get knicks to the playoffs. and if KD is ready for the playoffs, the knicks could win the title.
i wouldn't make kd play next year at all. better to be cautious.

Dinwiddie for something light would be cool w me.
This is exactly what I don’t get with you. You big up other team players that took a MINUTE to develop but then sh*t on ours when they’re still in their early stages.

He’s one of the worst defenders in the sport, and a reason why he’s 23 and already looking for his 3rd team to play for..he’s a younger Kanter..does two things well, rebounds and scores just like Kanter but can’t be on the floor down the stretch because he can’t stop anyone..don’t tell me his #’s..Kanter put up monster #’s and he was awful
DLo gonna be on his 3rd team in a minute and half the board thinks he's the tits.

The two free agents are expected to meet with both teams, along with several others once free agency begins at 6 p.m. on Sunday, but both the Clippers and Knicks have the salary cap space and interest to sign both players.
Please happen.

Thug/JVG do we make a separate thread for the KD/Kawhi stuff or just keep it here?

it's probably kd looking for a running mate in ny after kyrie backed out. that seems the most obvious explanation.
