CAnt see these guys wanting to play second fiddle in LA. They can surpass everyone from this era by giving us 1 championship.

Knicks board: Where wanting to max out a player based on 1 good year happens

Forget year, your boy has yet to have a good week in the league

And if he ever did break out you would be the first in line talking about max him out he's the savior like you did with KP

Most people thought KP would be decent; he was, but the Knicks made a decision not to be stuck with a less than max player making max money. Good move.

Sort of like how it might not be the best idea to max out DLo.

And GTFO with "I'd want to max out Frank". He's a young guard, might not turn out any good, but my stance was always it's early, and his defense has been good from the jump and an asset. Other than that, what DSJr and Frank have is that they are cheap and cost controlled. Also, the Knicks committment to them doesn't have to last more than, what, 1 more year? Two? DLo is gonna get four years.

Then again, the Knicks can go ahead and max out DLo and no one else and we can be last year's Nets. Good times.

Knicks made the decision? Get your facts straight. Knicks were on their hands and knees trying to get him to commit but it was KP and Janis who refused to so Knicks did the logical thing of trying to squeeze out some assets out of him rather than lose him for nothing. Knicks invested resources into him trying to get him to commit but it was him who refused to.

Cheap? We wasted a lotto pick on him how the fuq is that cheap? We tanked all year to end up with him and you gonna tell me he's cheap? FOH with that nonsense. Wasting lotto picks or wasting cap space, it's the same difference, either way you are wasting resources. I don't write the checks so I don't care about their paycheckes, all I know is we wasted a pick on a dude we couldn't even sell off for a 2nd round pick this draft. Yeah, but you cape for that

Notice how Stein phrases that, not the Knicks are a major factor, but the Knicks believe they are..see the jab..

Wah. The lotto pick was what it was. It's an already burned asset. I'm talking about the cost in $ for cap management.

And we don't know what the facts are about the KP situation. I, for one, am glad they didn't commit max dollars to a guy who has played more like a 2nd option, ultimately.

And this ties into rising "star" players and 2nd contracts. A team holding the guy has to decide if he's worth holding onto for the 4 or 5 years - I guess 5 since he's their asset, or, if he's worth holding at that price and if it fits the timeline of the rebuild and their flexibility to do it.

What are you crying about anyway? You inferred KP wasn't the kind of guy to max out anyway, or that it would be a bad look if I advocated it in the past.

Also, the Knicks didn't "tank all year" to get Frank. They just sucked, but not enough and picked 7th or 8th or whatever it was. For f*cks sake they didn't even specifically "tank all year" to get Knox - they just weren't any good after KP got hurt. If anything, they didn't tank HARD ENOUGH, and wound up with Knox. Oh well. Again, at least he's cost controlled and cheap. Last season they absolutely "Tanked all year" and got RJ. At least get it right.

It isn't wrong to be looking into a quality young PG, because Frank is likely a backup, and DSJr is going to have a 14 million $ cap hit in a couple of years, so there is something to trying to pivot to a guy like DLo.

I'm not sold on 1 year of top production being worth 4 years of the maximum number of dollars a player in his tranche/cohort...whatever the term would be. That's all. Not saying he sucks. Not saying the Knicks guards are better.
