I'm thrilled with Dedmon!

I mentioned before in another thread expect it to be about 3/45

Many think he will come cheaper. So I'm extra happy if he is cheaper than that.

He is a definite upgrade over Willie. I'm okay losing WCS me first attitude. Dedmon is mobile, runs well, has developed some perimeter skill and will fill his role. He's cheap. His effort alone makes him a better fit than WCS.

Dedmon's rim protection is much better than WCS... And the floor spacing? Dedmon is killer shooting over 38% on 3 shots per game.

This.
One thing that Carmichael Dave said recently was the Kings believe they have a contending roster, but it’s too young.
I have to agree at this stage. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be trying to upgrade the roster in the meantime but they should also allow enough scope for these guys to progress into their roles.
I mean think of Fox and Bagley in 3 years along with Buddy, Barnes, Bogi (who I have some thoughts on But will share after FA) and Giles as complimentary pieces.

It’s looking like we could be targeting Dedmon and Joseph. I would be happy with these guys as they can get paid now and be rewarded for helping transition the team from up and coming lottery team to PO team and hopefully by year 3, a contender.

So if we assume Dedmon comes, and we are investing in a backup pg Joseph or someone else.....

Leaves the wing or backup sf left.

We could probably get Brewer on the minimum.

Any ideas on what you guys would like that we can still afford?

Depends on the contracts but we can still have room to go after a guy like Morris who I think would be a huge addition to the team. I don't see Bjelica as a playoff rotation player. Definitely down to bring Brew back.

Dedmon is a journeyman big man that’s never averaged more than 25 mpg and also has an injury history. He’s been on 5 teams in 6 yrs. Solid rotation guy but let’s not over exaggerate his value. He’s a different player than Willie but not much of an upgrade if any. I’d rather throw big money at Al or Vuc. Bigs that are clear difference makers. I’m hoping to see this team take the next step, not stay in 3rd gear. I hope Vlade has a bigger plan than adding Dwayne Dedmon and some overpaid bench players (i.e. Corey Joseph).

Not a fan of Hood. Rather take a run at Aminu who can go 3/4. I also like Justin Holiday as a backup 2 that may be able to play a little 3. Both of them and Dedmon and I’m feeling better.

If you look at Lopez for a big fella who brought it to his game late in career.

Dedmon

Maybe he can get up to .400 ?

Not a bad option he had some impressive moments in the playoffs. Fits the timeline and could be had for relatively cheap I assume.

If Bjelica last year was any indication he would be getting a lot of wide open attempts 8-)

Yup with Fox breaking down the defense and Bags going to work inside, Barnes and Dedmon will have some open shots for sure. Another thing that is encouraging is he is a good screener in general and does well in screen and rolls as a set so they will have that to play with as well.

Yeah I feel this too.

Everyone talking like he’s worth 3/45. I don’t see it. You can get what you get from him from a Richaun Holmes for half or less of that price. It’s a waste of cap.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well he gets up and down the floor for his size. I feel like he'd fit right in with this current roster.

IMO he's not worth more than 3/36.

On the other hand, he would sign to be the 5th option in the starting line-up and we don't need him to average more than 25 mpg. We would be playing small ball with Bagley at 5 and also have Giles as his backup.

Still, I think he's the perfect fit to our core. He ticks everything we need: Rim protection, rebounding, spacing, consistent motor, and knows his role.

If you have 5 or so hours to kill (gets us to the start of the FA period :D), Nate Duncan's 3-Part mock free agency podcast is interesting:

Jonas Valanciunas signing with Memphis for 3/45. Does that set the price for Dedmon? Maybe we can get him at 3/36ish then?
