I am trying to find some sense in the keeping Horford theory out there. How could we manage to bring Kemba with Horford here? It makes no sense, right? I have just read that Kings have made a huge offer but that they believe Al is heading elsewhere. Can´t be us, right?

According to the latest theory, Celtics are the mystery team. So, after C's knew Irving was leaving, they started thinking about ways to keep this team in championship contention.

In that scenario we wouldn't even need the cap space, we could keep Al's cap hold and full MLE, resign Al and basically have the full squad back, just Kemba instead of Kyrie?'

Sign and trade irving and rozier for kemba to stay over the cap, then anything is possible with our FAs

It is likely that Horford's interest in leaving has a whole lot to do with money.

So the big unknown is whether the Celtics will pay him enough for him to be happy to stay. The evidence to date is of course on the "No" side of that, but we don't yet have certainty.

Yes, I guess that's right. To sign Kemba, they have to renounce the MLE, which means they can't use it this year. But if they could sign Kemba for 20M instead of 31M they could keep the 9M MLE and use it if and when they go over the cap.
