Ball is on our court now I think. I'm very interested to see what the Wiggins trade is.

Woj just reported that durant is signing with the nets. So the nets will be willing to work out a s&t with us.
Edit: well I'm slow

Culver has a 5m cap hold.
Minnesota are -7 in practical cap space. Teague's 19m + 3-4m = 22-23m -7m = 16m practical cap space where Minnesota need 27m.
I think Minnesota is going to trade Culver's cap hold as value in trade for that additional 5m = -2 in practical cap space.
at -2 practical cap space, Minnesota would need to shed 29m for the necessary 27m max
Wiggins + Teague + Culver + incentive/s
In a s&t we only need $22m-$23m going out. We don't need to match the entire $27m unless we are signing him straight up
In a S&T with Nets who don't want to take on salary. How do you compensate the Nets & the team taking on the unwanted salary?.

What team are you a fan of? It sure isn't the Wolves.
Raptors.
It's not worth giving Culver and incentives for the privilege of paying Russell a max contract that he isn't worthy of. Why do you want us to give away the farm?

Didn't the Nets only have 2max slots?
Are you expecting them to go into the Luxury tax to facilitate a S&T for Minnesota's sake?.

Not with the #6 pick in the draft plus additional incentives like you are talking about. Teague is a neutral asset. Should cost about nothing to move him.

Considering that the nets are now going to be giving out max contracts to Irving and Durant and will have to renounce Russell's contract and lose him for nothing. A 2nd Rd pick or 2 will do it. The other team will get an expiring teague and one of okogie or culver

Re: Lowe - Timberwolves Still Want D-Russell
Here’s a thought. We all know that Teague going out alone is insufficient to give Russell the max in a sign and trade. Phoenix has a need for a vet PG but we really haven’t heard them connected with anyone. The Saric draft day trade isn’t actually consummated until July 6th. What if there was some sort of agreement that if we get Russell, the trade would be expanded to us sending out Teague/Saric/FRP to Phoenix as part of a three way trade to get Russell in addition to the 6/11 pick swap. I believe Phoenix has enough cap space to make this happen and adding Saric would send out enough money to give Russell the max.
I truly believe the next step would be sending out Wiggins for a shorter bad contract (Parsons, Batum, etc).
And the Nets don’t need real compensation. By helping Russell get to his preferred destination, they won’t look like the franchise that ditched their best player from the year before. Plus they’d get a huge TPE. A second round puck should be sufficient.

Re: Lowe - Timberwolves Still Want D-Russell
Kevin Durant
SF, Golden State Warriors
Kevin Durant is planning to sign with the Brooklyn Nets.
The announcement will be official later tonight on KD's Boardroom IG page. When the Nets traded away Allen Crabbe’s contract, it was a bold statement that they were in on arguably the best isolation scorer of all time. Durant is not expected to play in the 2019-20 season, and he’ll be at age 32 when he returns for the 2019-20 year. KD had some legendary efficiency with the Warriors, posting at least a 63 TS% in each of his three seasons. He also added stats across the board to make him one of the most valuable players in fantasy. Tonight will go down as one of the greatest nights in Nets franchise history.

I read a recent Suns article that suggested who lands Russell could net the 3rd friend in FA 2024 when they're all 27.
Implied that Minnesota could end up with Kat, Booker, Russell with this signing or end up losing Kat to the Suns as a FA.
Instead of me arguing my perception of value. I'll ask you, what kind of value do you think it would take to dump a negative max contract with 4yrs duration/120m?
Wiggins is not just negative value, he's near the bottom in most efficiency stats.

Tangent but I saw on the board that Sam Presti was in Minnesota today. I have a hunch/hope that we have some moves lined up and simply the non large market teams are cheating quietly.
Low-key adding D'lo puts us arguably the top of the Devin Booker market due to the best friend relation between the previously mentioned and Towns

I'm not talking about Wiggins. He doesn't need to be involved in the Russell acquisition.

What team do you have taking Teague's 19m into cap space without compensation?.

Not including Wiggins obviously changes things but I think not including him, is a cap flexibility mistake for several reasons. Trading away the expiring & shorter contract, keeping Wiggins in order to not pay assets, means you'll have 90m + tied up in 3 players potentially 2 underproducing, for the next 4yrs. If you think the cap situation is bad now, better hope Russell delivers on his max contract.

Re: Lowe - Timberwolves Still Want D-Russell
I think TEAGUE to Charlotte is out the window
Terry Rozier
PG, Boston Celtics
Terry Rozier plans to sign a three-year, $58 million deal with the Hornets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Well, there should be some shots available for Rozier with Kemba Walker's 30.8 usage rate likely headed to Boston. Rozier was a disaster last season at paltry 43.9 TS%, which is a hefty decrease from his 53.8 TS% in the 2017-18 season. If he can up his FG%, he could have some fantasy value in standard leagues.

RJ Barrett is from Canada, maybe the Knicks get Wiggins to pair up the canadian connection to clear up space for us to sign Russell.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
