Many people may not be a fan of this move but I like it. We don’t need him to score. He can do a little bit of everything else. Great signing but I feel like everyone else could disagree.

Love this move ! We have our shooters now . Now we have an aggressive smart PG who is pass first and plays defense

Would have preferred a Patrick Beverly or a Terry Rozier but Rubio is a solid point guard who will really help Ayton, He is a massive upgrade from what we have, Hopefully his has been working on his 3 point shot in the offseason. I give the move a B, we could have done better but we could have done far worse.

Meh. That's my reaction to this deal. Could be better and could have been worse.

I'd like this move more if we still had TJ Warren...
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Incidentally, I was reading about Rubio on the Pacers forum last night, and came across a Wolves fan that I'm guessing will stop by, because he posted this there.....(also I do know most Wolves fans seem to really like Rubio...his last year with him they were a net positive with him on the floor but the worst in league without, and ended up like the 4th or 5th worst that year I believe).

PharmD wrote:Ricky is maybe the best pocket passer in the league (ask Kevin Love, Nikola Pekovic, Karl Anthony Towns). Unfortunately Rudy Gobert is incapable of catching bounce passes. Rudy is great at catching lobs but Ricky is surprisingly poor at throwing lobs in traffic.

Ricky is also super, super good at feeding the post but that Jazz don't have anybody that posts up (even when rolling up guards on switches) so that was wasted too. Essentially Rubio and Gobert were an awful fit on offense.

As a plus side of signing Rubio you would get me in your threads making gifs of Rubio passes. I especially like the great passes that nobody else seems to realize are great; the ones that beat the defense just because they are thrown with perfect timing and precision.

Saying someone who averaged 18 ppts a game on high efficiency is trash is a bad look.

Warren could avg 50 ppg and if he’s the odd man out , and has zero defense and we still win 19 games . He’s ok to go

Now the real question... Too late to send Rubio to work on his shot with Warren?

I like it. Solid veteran presence and facilitator. Type of PG they needed. Reasonable deal in this market for his aged 29-31 seasons. Suns weren’t competitive for anyone higher profile and I’d rather not give up future assets for someone like Brogdon.

Why pay for Rubio at that rate when Beverley is there at same rate?
