Can’t believe we missed out on Butler. Wouldn’t be surprised the way the team didn’t even try to lock in a second guy for Kawhi

Kawhi didn't want to talk yet and we didn't want Butler without him.
Besides, it looks like Butler actively sought out Miami. They were first and last on his list. Miami's an ace place to play in winter, and Butler was there when they gave Dwyane Wade his retirement sendoff and was reportedly knocked out.

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
I’m guessing it’s either Raps or Lakers from the looks of it. Could be wrong.
But if that’s the case you guys should hope Raps because he will only sign a 1 year deal and then most likely end up with you guys.
If he signs for the Lakers then he will most likely sign for max.

What you just said made zero sense. Do some research and educate yourself on why Kawhi signing a 1 year deal makes sense regardless of where he goes. Also, stop watching SAS, that crap is rotting your brain.

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
Yeah a bunch of the value free agent are gone already, but I'm pretty sure whoever is gonna land him already knows he will, and is already making moves with that in mind. Just because we don't know it, does't mean they don't at least have strong indications.
Raps priority if Kawhi stays would be re-signing Green, and he's still on the market.
Lakers could still build a pretty good team around Lebron and Davis, say they get Dragic, Danny Green and KCP + minimum ring chasers. They still have options.
And we, at the very minimum, will run it back. Out of all the guys signed, I only wanted Aminu and Portis' contracts, and they might not even have been interested in either. After the Beverly contract, we'd have slightly over $14M in capspace, that's one good role player and there's still a couple interesting guys that can be had at that price.

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
Can't say I'm confident in Kawhi but I don't think it's a lost cause yet. Personally, I'd try to overpay the Wizards for Beal right now. Shai, Shamet, Gallo and the Miami pick. There's no reason to think that actually happens, but we need to make a splash. Culture and competence are great but if the Clippers are serious about truly reinventing themselves, they need to show the league they can make a splash like the Lakers.

If we don't get him, I hope the Clippers get him for the competitive reasons.

Lol no way I send that for Beal. I wouldn't even send Shai or Shamet by themselves for Beal.SK21209 wrote:Can't say I'm confident in Kawhi but I don't think it's a lost cause yet. You would not trade Shammy for Beal?
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point.

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
Nope. Overpaid and his 3pt % has come down the past couple years. Pass.Galloisdaman wrote:mttwlsn16 wrote:Lol no way I send that for Beal. That's insane, Beal is 25 and was the first cut from the All-NBA teams, largely due to the fact that the Wizards are a complete dumpster fire. In all likelihood Shamet will never be as good as Beal is right now

Yeah, pretty obvious now that Kawhi's going to the Lakers, unfortunately. I don't think ALL of the Lakers' Plan B options would be signing elsewhere if they didn't know for sure that Kawhi's going there. This offseason has been an unmitigated disaster for us.

I love Shamet but if the package was built around Shamet for Beal I'd do it in a second. No to SGA though.
Shamet, Robinson, Miami 1st and LAC 1st for Beal?

Well overpaid is a relative term. He is a 2 time all star at age 25. Is he really dramatically overpaid overpaid in todays dollars at 25 points per game for 27 mill next season?
Cap room is only good if you do something worthy with it. If not what is the use of having it?
