it doesnt bother me. we needed a body at PG. We are in the perfect situation to gamble on someone like Terry..decent vets don't want to come to this situation. if he sucks we suck an we get high draft picks. if he's good we will still suck enough to draft super high and we might have a decent PG for a few years

though at that salary it should have been a team option for the 3rd year definitely.

anyway, I will be entertained watching Terry try to back up his claims of being a top PG in the NBA whether he proves it or not. a guy whos claimed he could do it all if only he was given the chance now has all the freedom he could ever want, now thats entertainment

For me there is an expectation of output that is associated to a contract that is 3 years and $58 million dollars.

I hope he can, but I have serious doubts of Rozier being able to meet - or even come close - to those expectations.

I’m cool with the signing but as said think he’s overpaid. I’m not cool with how Kemba went out. No assets acquired and lowballed.

Lol. 29% of 20 shots doesn’t match 25 ppg.

Your hyperbole meter needs to be recalibrated

It was average 60 ppg this season or average 77.

Do you prefer Love at his age and with his injury history or an uptempo athletic freak like Wiggins?

I like that MJ wants to hunt for the playoffs.

Well now I really want us to deal Batum for Wiggins. Hell, if we’re taking on Rozier we might as well add Wiggins, who is a better gamble than most we could make. He is still a young player who showed a couple of years ago some major talent. It would certainly make for a team to watch;

Rozier - Graham
Wiggins - Bacon
Miles - ?
PJ - Marv
TBD (Cody or FA)

In order to avoid a clogged toilet you have to run Monk out there in permutations that include Miles Bridges and PJ Washington. Bacon can back up Miles at SF. Monk would be 6th man on a team starving for offense. For sure he's first off the bench with Wiggins here. And starter if not. Monk and Bacon have an open competition for starting SG I assume. But if MJ wants to win now and brings Wiggins, the competition will be for 6th man. I for one believe we need better spacing with Kemba gone. Monk has more spacing potential than anyone on the team and they just added a starting PG really not known for the 3. It's good that he plays strong defense so you can hide Monk better. Monk won't be attached to any bad contracts, totally unnecessary in a Wiggins deal.

The amount and length of the contract is disgusting but I'm willing to give this signing a chance. Miles and Bake seem to reacted positively to this news.

I wish the 3rd year was a team option, but Rozier is probably one of the better outcomes in terms of starting PGs that would be available to rebuilding teams. The $19m is sort of stupid but we'll have cap space in future seasons regardless, it shouldn't prevent us from making moves.

people keep acting like this is a continuation of cap killing moves like Batum/Marvin/Bismack but hey, when you are rebuilding it doesn't matter. those moves stopped us from putting help around Kemba.

but hey, Kemba is gone now.

Theres nobody left to worry about putting help around. who cares about our cap sheet now? we got a 25 year old PG that has shown flashes of elite talent and is about to get his first actual chance at a major role. our young guys are about to show out in Vegas. I'm actually interested in what could happen with this team now.

I can’t think of any way where this makes any sense. Terry Rozier for $19m per? Wth? Who else was paying him this money on the open market? How can we consistently make such poor choices with players and contracts???

$19m per. Wow. Meanwhile, somehow the Heat are landing Jimmy Butler and their contract situation was just as terrible as ours.

If I'm the Hornets, I would take interest in reclamation projects for the future. I know this team will be in the basement for a while. At least sign guys who will defend, provide offense and compete to keep some entertainment value going as the team rebuild their foundation.

I know it's not saying much. But in the long run, at least the rebuild for hope can begin for this team. You the fans deserve this much.

Well, I don't know what to think about Rozier, but I suspected it might be a deal Charlotte could make when Boston gave Rozier the QO. The Celtics were hoping the S&T would help them keep Horford, but that ship had really already sailed. Same with Kyrie, so I'm not sure what they were hoping to gain from the trade since they could simply sign Kemba outright.

Charlotte, on the other hand, clearly can't stomach a rebuild. Can't say I blame them. Doing a real rebuild isn't as simple or effective as it once was. Takes a lot of luck, too much, probably, to make lottery work for a rebuild. So, going to free agency with cap space...not been an effective strategy for the Hornets. That leaves trades.

Terry Rozier at $19M? Seem like this number is the (new) going rate for a starting level point guard, which the Hornets clearly project him to be. In the best way, you pay for future production, not past performance. I think the player will represent the contract, if not totally justify it. I like Rozier. Liked him at Louisville and liked his development in Boston.

How does he fit in Charlotte? Still don't know the answer to that question, but I don't sense the doom and gloom. I think it'll be all right and the squad will be entertaining. The pain will come when the team needs buckets and all look to Rozier for them. Someone will have to step up as a second scorer or it's going to get really ugly.

Okay with this. I don't care about the contract. Club was capped anyway and now they're hard capped. Jordan was hard capped anyway. Still can do some moves and the team is what it is until they can swap Batum for something.

I just noticed this, thought it was just a rumor. Well wow.. i can only hope the third year is an option. Hard to understand what they are doing. Especially with Monk.

They're grooming Monk to be the next primary scorer. It's not hard to figure out.

Good
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Alpha dog? Then pay Kemba the $3m/year more that he was asking above what we offered.

I've got news for this writer. Monk is terrible. Adding Rozier doesn't prevent us from tanking. If you think Rozier matches what Kemba and Lamb gave, you are crazy. You can't get that for 19 mil. The tank is safe and we still get an early look at a guy with potential to do big things. Could the team all outperform next season? Sure, but odds are, they perform much worse and this writer is just trying to make it sound like they can give a bad grade and it's passing whether we are good or suck. Amateur journalism.
