who knows. as long as the contracts are short it doen't matter that much.

You said they want to get to .500

I said these aren’t accomplishing that goal

You said they have 40 mil left

Now it doesn’t matter as long as it’s short

What’s the end game? Spend it to spend it?

how would i know exactly who they're looking at ? when you offer only short deals most players won't come. so you get who you can. they're just trying to add enough talent around the kids to compete. i haven't seen the whole thing yet i can't tell you if i think it's gonna work. i probably can't after either because a lot will be based on how good rj is or how much anyone else improves.

You might as well detach yourself from the Baltimore Orioles while you're at it.

You wanted KD?

It has nothing to do with KD, or even DLo. It’s the point of failing to understand that the smart move would be to acquire picks by trading for liability contracts. These moves have no upside.

He's a solid hard-nosed veteran.

We need guys like him in the locker room.

Having too many young guys fighting for minutes is not a great idea. We need some balance. Taj will contribute to that balance.

I'm not mad at this signing.

What? Really? The Knicks didn't WANT TO PAY KD a max contract is what happened. And thank god. You're parroting cheap media fodder and you know that's not what happened.

Besides, they cleared cap space for only 2 or 3 possible players and the primary one probably would be a Knick right now if they hadn't snapped their achilles. The other one was Kahwi. And the third one was Kyrie who is clearly a package deal that went with KD.

Don't spin the BS narrative please. You're better than that.

Well obviously you know me, and probably know I'm speaking out of jealousy. It's embarrassing, but I can't help it.

Anyway, regarding the Nets, there's a lot of ifs and coulds in my statement. So I'm not saying they did great, but they could have hit a home run if things go to plan.

I hope you are right about Knicks not wanting to give him the max. But recent sources are saying Durant already made up his mind a week ago. I would have liked if the Knicks formally offered a partially guaranteed contract.

In this day and age of guys getting paid $35-45M a year, many of which are terrible overpays, we signed a legit player for only 3 years at just over $20M and Taj was added for $10M for 2 years. While Randle has upside (he has improved every year basically) and Taj is obviously meant to provide the vet presence (which indicates to me not a lack of ideas, but a clear commitment to supporting the youth), these contracts and their length in this day and age keeps the team from getting boxed in on bad deals.

The real narrative is they are sticking to their guns and maintaining cap flexibility and not panicking by overpaying players to appease impatient fans. You should be applauding that whether Randle or Gibson themselves stir your loins or not. The overall narrative shows Perry is keeping a level head and not being a sucker. That's huge for the Knicks and I'm sure this board will misinterpret everything about it and this will be a cesspool for the next month.

I see what you are saying. And I hate to be that guy, but I'm still sure the FO wanted KD after the injury. This stuff we are hearing about not wanting to give him the max was just damage control. It was clear the Knicks' plan failed when KI went to the Nets. I'm not saying this can't work out for the Knicks. But their plan A failed.

Anyways, I'm still iffy on these moves. Sticking to their guns would mean continuing the rebuild like using your capspace to get more picks. It sounds like they are trying to sneak into the 8th seed.

Don't mind they released a statement, as ESPN is laughing and using us right now.

The hate New York gets still boggles my mind.

But if we gave KD the max, they'd STILL be ridiculing us for signing an injured, high risk player.

Can't win with these mthfkers!.

We did need big forwards, that's the only part I agree with them on. I would have ran Knox at the four though, just to keep his minutes up. Now you basically stuck your own draft pick on the bench. Utter silliness.

Knox will be a bust if you make him a 3 and we just spent 30 million on 2 4’s. Y’all don’t realize how clueless this FO is.

He might be a bust either way. Also, he's nowhere near strong enough to be a 4.

Been out at the beach with the fam all day. Is there still a remote chance for Kawhi? Looks like we still have cap room for a max.

The upside is nurturing our youth, and having some vets to show them the ropes and to hold them accountable when they mess up.
