Will miss you Al. Sorry you have to hang with Embiid. That dudes a chump...off the court anyway.

Wow. You guys are mad at Al for taking the money? JFC, what is wrong with you? Al was great in Boston and I will always cheer for him when he isn't playing against the Celtics.

Happy for Al getting paid. Don’t like the fit for him. Looks like another year of second round or ECF elimination for Al. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Wondering why he didn’t want to be a Celtic anymore.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Not that fierce, and our franchises are in different states. Idk I don't care haha. It's fine.

Philly is going all in to win a ring in the next 3 years and saying screw the fit.

We're doing the make the playoffs in the middle of a rebuild thing with some young talent and eye for the future.

It isn't like we're both just fought in the ECF. It's no Ray or Durant. And we couldn't bring back Al for the money he got at all. Dramatic overpay unless you think you're winning a ring and he's the perfect fit.

He got his money and chance to contend. Good for him. Bad for the Celtics. Those are the breaks.

Well good for him in getting paid, He was solid while he was here, consumate teamate wish him the best, Philly has a decent shot to win it all next year, Horford can take the load off of Embiid and while they are short on shooting getting Josh Richardson back in the deal for Butler is a coup for philly. They still don't have a PG but I would take Horford and Richardson over Butler for next year at least.

I guessed wrong on KD despite all of the signs pointing to the Nets -- I didn't realize Nets had ownership linked to China -- but I guessed right on where Horford would end up. I actually thought Philly made the most sense for him. He will be a very good fit in the short term if he stays healthy and a good backup for Embiid. They will have I guess Richardson as well.

This should give Philly a 2 year window to win it all before perhaps a lull period if Embiid/Simmons both stay healthy while making their long term situation arguably better than if they paid Butler the 5 year max.

I realize Philly was Celtics rival of the 80's since I watched all of the games during regular season/playoffs but I don't think the Philly rivalry is anywhere near the same right now so can't blame Horford for:
1) going to the better team in the short term -- arguably 1 or 2 shots away or Embiid not getting sick away from winning title this year.
2) getting more money than Celtics would pay. Granted some of that is reportedly incentives for winning championships....
3) going to a team that hasn't won it all since 1983 so a title may mean more there.
4) going to a team where he can mentor a great big and have less of a load himself.
5) going to a city that is moderately warmer during the winter.

It really makes sense on so many different levels, I can't blame the guy at all. As long as Philly is playing Boston, I wish them well.

It's a dick move from al all things considered.
I hope we sweep his ass all 4 year (no bonus for you).
I had no issue with his age chasing money but major issue withhim choosing philly.
Now I hope we smoke nets and philly everytime we play them.

Consummate professional, good move by the 6ers keeping Embiid from having to face his daddy.

love Al the person

....but we're not talking about Al the person

kind of a snake move by Mr. "I'd restructure my contract to help the team" only to leave for our division rival smh. but oh well. clearly i'm salty. looks like we'll have to bust his a** now.

Al said, numerous times at that, that he wanted to play the 4 and in Philly he can now do that. Celtics were strangely obsessed with playing small. Probably why they failed to draft a big yet again and now have no centers outside of Williams who is probably not even ready.

We don’t know what the Celts offered so I’m going to withhold judgment of Al.

This is tough to swallow, though.

Will always thank him for being that first guy to give Boston a chance in free agency when nobody ever really did. He helped put the Celtics in a great position to do a lot of things.

With that being said. I’m not going to root for him at all and hopes he fails miserably while getting paid well. Please play like **** to screw the Sixers over, maybe then I will appreciate you even more.

Ain't no one mad. This was all about Al wanting to show up Ainge. Al has made plenty of ******* money in this league. If he really cared about Boston and his teammates then he would of put his ego aside and been more patient with the process.

I was among the first on his bandwagon when first acquired and biggest cheerleader I'm done with him bro.

Secret Agent Horford is going to work under cover for the Celtics. He's taking that contract with Philly so he can secretly take out their team. Horford is going to wear down and humiliate Embiid every chance he gets in practice. By the time the season starts Joel will be a shell of his former self, not even wanting to step onto the court, constantly muttering under his breath "no more, I can't take any more". After that, Horford is going to spend a lot of time encouraging / challenging Simmons to shoot 3 pointers. After about a month of that Simmons will start taking 8 to 10 three pointers a game (and of course missing every one of them). By the all-star break Simmons will have shot himself off the team, never even trying to attack the rim any more.
By the trade deadline, Philly will give Horford back to Boston, while still paying his huge contract for the next four years!!!
Great plan, AL!!! (please tell me that is your plan).

Seriously, though, I am going to miss seeing Horf donning the Green. In a disastrous season last year, Big Al was one of the few bright spots.
