Nets Sign DeAndre Jordan ($40 million/4 years)

Post#1 » by Keith Van Horn » Mon Jul 1, 2019 1:58 am

Matt barnes just said Deandre Jordan signing for 4 years 40 million with Nets. Impossible with current cap space, therefore more deals are in place now.

Most likely Joe gone? that would SUCK.

Yeah lol I sent that message too soon. If Kyrie and KD are taking a paycut for Jordan to keep the current team together... wow.

and then Barnes said at one point they all intended to be Knicks earlier in the season but switched to the Nets.

Maybe they weren't that impressed with the MSG attendance numbers? or the 17 win season? or the young "best in the league" core of players"

Dude, this is **** ing wild. Not only are these dudes coming here, they're taking major paycuts too...

Thinking Jordan is now the starter. And as much as it sucks to say, could see Allen dealt around the deadline. I'm not even saying this because I'm a big fan, but we could see something like Allen, Harris, Musa, Temple and Prince dealt for Beal at the deadline. I don't even know how I feel about that, but I could see it. Durant will likely become a full time 4 after this injury, LeVert can play the 3 and we have Claxton to groom as the long term starter at the 5.

Imagine if it's Din's 10M and we gotta take on DJ's corpse for the friendship :banghead:. I mean you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully it's all cap magic and costs us nothing of value.

Think of it as KD and Kyrie not taking the max to pay for his entire contract. He's basically a free bonus.

He's the perfect fit for this team to play behind Allen. He won't have to start or play a ton of minutes, and with a 4 year deal you hope he's got the incentive to stay competitive while Durant gets healthy.

Every level of this organization just continues to impress and I'm absolutely 100% thrilled with this offseason. So I don't mean to be the devil's advocate here, but giving jordan a 4 year deal seems like a pretty long commitment. I understand that $10M a year isn't unmovable in a future trade down the road, but what does this kind of contract mean for jarret allen's development, playing time, role on the team, and future contract negotiations?
