Man, that's an overpay. Upgraded over Yogi so it had to be done.

Third year isn’t fully guaranteed.

That's seems more than a bit expensive for Joseph. I guess that's the price Kings have to pay for a decent backup.

Anything less than 4 years and I'm not concerned with what these guys are getting. Even better that the Joseph and Dedmon deals are partials in year 3 and Ariza is basically a 1 year deal.

It’s an overpay but I like it. We HAD to address the backup PG position and we did it with one of the best in the league. Joseph is quality. On a 2 yr deal with a partial 3rd yr I’m good. We’ve essentially written off next offseason and opened up 2021 for extending the youngsters. Well played Kings, playoffs are very real. Next year is going to be a good time.

The free agency class isn’t that deep next offseason, so I’m really like what blade has done.

You have Jogi Ferrel on one year 3 million deal, who gives you 5,9 pts (43-36-89%); 1,9 ast; 0,6 tov off the bench.
Ish Smith got 12/2 deal having 8,9 pts (42-32-75%); 3,6 ast; 1,1 tov last season.
This is the first day of FA market, tons of backup PG are still available, teams are trying to sign key/core players.
How much would you want to pay Cory Joseph (6,5 pts (41-32-70%); 3,9 ast; 1 tov last season)...? 37/3! OMG! Vlade is the worst GM in the league. And he proves it again.

This is a good move, really happy with it! Cory Joseph is a strong defender at the point guard position, he rounds out the bench real nicely. Extra props to getting that third partially guaranteed, future flexibility still intact.

Cory Joseph:
DWS: 2.9
DBPM: 1.4
Stl/G: 1.1

Yogi Ferrell:
DWS: 0.6
DBPM: -1.8
Stl/G: 0.5

Ish Smith:
DWS: 1.1
DBPM: -1.1
Stl/G: 0.5

Cory Joseph is easily the best defender of the bunch, that's what we were looking for behind Fox. Yogi and Ish might be slightly better scorers but it doesn't matter when they are giving up more on defense than they provide on offense.

A bit of an overpay but nothing crazy. He's a solid, middle-of-the-road backup and rounds out the roster.

Yeah, nice balance for the second unit with defense Joseph and Ariza, playmaking with Bogi and Giles and shooting with Bogi, Ariza and Bjel. If we are gonna surprise and over achieve again we'll need Giles to come in healthy and ready to be 20min guy with a positive +/- and WS%. No wonder they kept him out of summer league. I wonder how Swanigan is looking?

Cory played in the team with the slowest pace. Don't overrate his defensive numbers.

What guys like you never get is thatnits not all about the raw numbers for everything.

The intangibles are usually far more important when you are trying to fit in an appropriate role player with your stars. And that’s what he is here for.
How is this guy’s attitude? Where did he “grow up” in the NBA? How does he handle playing a role? Can he spot start if needed? Is he a good locker room guy? Does he have playoff/title team experience and pedigree?

CJ grew up with the Spurs and Pacers two of the NBA’s classiest and constantly premiere organizations. He fills the need of a decent size defensive b/u veteran PG who can run the second team and free up Bogie and Ariza to be scorers.

None of those numbers really have anything to do with pace. If anything, higher pace = more possessions = more opportunities for steals so having more steals in a lower pace would be a good thing.
