If we aren't doing something directly to help Philadelphia, then we'd have to bribe them with a pick or something.

Also, "TPE" isn't the right phrase, which is good in this context, because TPEs can't be combined with anything else.

You mean if we'd needed to sign Kemba into cap room? Without checking the numbers, I think the answer is "Yes".

Obviously pumped about the Kemba signing. Going to need JB and Tatum to take a jump forward this year and Hayward to look more like Hayward. Not overly concerned with a big man. Someone that could grab some boards would be helpful though. Not sure I am buying into the 76ers hype. Redick & Butler is a big loss.

There is one unlikely path for Celtics to re-acquire Baynes during the season -- if he gets traded from the Suns to another team then said team waives him or buys him out, we can sign him for the minimum. Yay.

Option 1: Let RW play and foul out and then close games with Poirer. Should guarantee 2 lottery picks for next year despite some really fun small ball. Hayward opts out.

Option 2: Hayward returns to form. Team is battling for 6-8 seed at deadline. Use his salary in trade at deadline plus a pick to get a big - Blake Griffin? Surprise contender as 4 seed.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Still waiting for the annual "Sully has lost weight" pic.
Both him and Yabu would be great

Option 3: get a decent big or 2, everyone plays better and as a team and we go into the playoffs with home court for at least the first round.

It's a bit galling, sounding like Shaughnessy here, that the Celtics got nothing for Kyrie, nothing for Al, meanwhile the Warriors turn the loss of Durant into DLo. I mean ugggh, and then toss in the creation of these Super Teams and the Celtics are on the outside looking in for the foreseeable future.

I expect the upcoming season to be Pump and Dump and talent acquisition, but the Celtics while not treadmilling are not in a good place.

Blake Griffin may be the one guy who could be available, that could make some sort of difference against these Super Teams. But he's going to be costly... Hayward, Memphis pick, possibly Brown. A Timelord, Griffin, Tatum frontcourt could be spectacular in the 2021 season.

AFAIK, he will technically be traded on July 6th, so he will not be allowed to play for the Celtics in the 19-20 season.

We can in one particular case I described above. See last (bolded) sentence.

A team cannot reacquire a player it traded away during the same season (a season for this purpose being defined as starting on the first day of the regular season and ending on the last day of the Finals). If the player was traded between seasons (i.e., from the first day after the Finals to the last day prior to the start of the next regular season), it cannot reacquire the player prior to the end of the next season. If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first6. However, if a team trades a player's draft rights, it can reacquire the player during the same season.
