I guess my point is more so that its time for Ainge to either **** or get off the pot. Give him his max extension now or trade him— do not let him go into the season with no deal so he’ll be forced to play for stats over wins.

I don’t think you max JB at this point. Offer him a nice extension around 4/80..first year salary at 18 million or so. If he doesn’t want to sign then play out the season and let the market dictate If he shows the expected improvement then no problem paying him what he is worth...maybe a max deall

Offering him 4/80 would insult him after Murray got 5/170. Itd be like what the Red Sox did to Lester.

If youre not prepared to max him, trade him— there are no good FAs next summer and someone will give him a max [see: Otto Porter].

Fair point. I forgot about Murray deal.

**** it then, max him.

I think yes, but mine is currently the minority view.

We need that cap space to sign Kemba though right? Unless a 3 way s and t materializes?

That is my understanding.

Player movement in the NBA is now wild. Wasn't this absurd when I was growing up. Larry was a Celtic forever. Magic was a Laker. Stockton and Malone IS Utah. Reggie was a Pacer for life, etc.

That's as crazy as that period in the mid 1990s where a ton of top picks were traded before their rookie contracts ran out.

But these are more established stars hopping from one team to the next. And not even via trade. Free agency movement has been crazier than ever for top-tier guys.

Danny can low ball now and wait until RFA like with Smart. After seeing Rozier get what he got, I don’t see the point.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

After last season, Id hope Ainge would do everything in his power to minimize distractions. Letting Browns future hang out there is quite the large one.

I had dreams of Rob Williams blocking shots and dunking on nice Kemba PNRs.

We are good at the 5 spot. Sure use the room exception to get someone to play 20 minutes while time Lord is out with foul trouble or resting, but we fine.

Yah, im of the mind that we now need to pick a side: either max him or trade him. I can get down with either, just want some choice to be made.

Well the point is that Rozier and Brown spent last season complaining about playing time and touches and claimed Stevens was "babying" Hayward and it undercut Stevens and affected team chemistry.

I agree you can't pay big money to Brown but we already know how he handles worrying about his role and it's not good.

Probably already been mentioned, but Derrick Favors is being traded to New Orleans for draft picks. I assume that Utah has to pick up his team option of $16.9 million first, in order to trade him.

Celts better sign a big man soon, as their options will start to dwindle.

What my concern is the Celtics don't have anything but the MLE to sign anyone which may not me enough. They may be all in on Williams.

Maybe Celtics are taking Biyombo back in Kemba-Rozier s&t, and getting an asset for it.

He'd be a good fit for sure. The Celtics need size in a bad way.

He cannot catch the ball, but he plays center.. and I'm running out of ideas. Most of the good value bigs are off the board.

These are C's FA options at the moment. Kanter (please no), Cauley-Stein, Cousins (hell no), McGee, Noel, Boban, Koufos. None of those are starting level bigs, more of a good backup level.

There has to be a big they know they're getting. Who's gonna guard Gasol and/or Embiid/Horford?

Sam Amick:

Source confirms Kings’ three-year, $37 million deal with point guard Cory Joseph (@ChrisBHaynes first). I’m told the third year is a partial guarantee.

Also, the Kings rescinded Willie Cauley-Stein’s qualifying offer to free up this money, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Here's a short list of some availables:

Enes Kanter
DeMarcus Cousins
Kevon Looney
Willie Cauley-Stein
Nerlens Noel (maybe)

Can we make that happen though, cap wise?
