Jamal Murray signs extension - makes playing for Canada at the World Cup much more likely now that his money is in the bank.

So the Mavs get "Dirk light" …..

Seriously though Kelly gets a chance to secure a starters role, perhaps at the expense of Dwight....

Still a bigs rotation of Porzingis, Powell and Olynyk will be interesting to watch.

Just when it looked like Powell was about to get a starting role.

Oh well, will still be cool to have them on the same team.

They showed great chemistry when on the floor together for Canada on that European exhibition tour a few years ago. Maybe they can recreate that for a few minutes a game for Dallas (and for Canada).

CoJo to the Kings for 3 years and 37mm. Third year non guaranteed.
Moving to a new team of course adds risk to him playing FIBA

Khem Birch, Stuaskas and Lyles still in the board.

The Olynyk deal has hit a roadblock apparently - they still have time to work it out but it sounds like it may be falling apart ( not a great situation for poor Kelly - it's probably time for the aging Pat Riley to think about retirement).

Lyles is a restricted free agent meaning somebody can give him an offer sheet that the Nuggets could then match or arrange a sign and trade ( similar to the Brogdon situation). In my opinion Lyles is an undervalued asset.

The good thing for Joseph, Murray and Powell is that their deals now take them through next June / July. I'd say there's a strong chance we are in the last chance qualifier next year June 23 -29. If your an NBA free agent you can't play in this event ( Tristan Thompson) as you don't have a contract yet and probably can't get insurance.

Anyone have a comprehensive list of Canadians in Vegas summer league?
I noticed Mulder, Pierre, and Robertson in summer league boxscores from tonight's games.
Along with the six draftees, Dort, Shittu, Wigginton, Brisset, and Alexender, that's at least 14.

Barrett Was awful; same issues that he had at duke: tunnel vision driving to the hoop, can only go left, not a good shooter. Granted it was only one game, but he did not look impressive… At all.

Okay, so I think I've watched RJ Barrett play like 50 times. And today was the worst I've ever seen him play. This was a combination of poor defense, very poor shooting (4/18 from the field; 1/8 from 3; 1/4 from the line), and perhaps most worrying, he just didn't even try to pass the ball. Just about everything that people feared about him. It's just one game, but this is an awful set of mind. I honestly felt some relief when the earthquake put a stop to it. Playing like this, he's a real minus. the way it's looking now, with him, Knox, Trier, and Randle, this might be one of the more selfish and unpleasant teams to watch in the NBA.

Oh, and Iggy, but the way, was also quite bad.

I've also watched and followed RJ since he began his high school career at St. Marcellinus in Mississauga. He has certainly improved his form and it looks much better than at Duke. He also looks to have put on some muscle over the summer.

Having said that he did not look good at all in his first game. If he will continue to try and be a score first guard like james harden his shooting has to improve drastically and will need a better back to the basket game because he is not that quick. The most disappointing thing has been his tunnel vision and his defense. Again these are things that have been observed in the past and are his major weak areas which correlate directly to low basketball IQ especially if you are struggling shooting the ball.

And people think RJ should start for the SMNT?
We’d be way better off with Tom Scrubb if it came to it. Hopefully Brooks, Stauskas and SGA are with the team. Even Wiggins is a better option than RJ right now. Worst thing for RJ is he is on the worst franchises in the league and they will surely do nothing to fix his bad habits.

Seeing SGA traded to the Thunder is really disappointing. He was developing really well in LA and now he has Westbrook to ruin it all.

This list is missing Mychal Mulder on the Bulls, and Kassius Robertson is indeed playing for the Hornets. Did not see Simi on the Grizzlies nor the Wolves yesterday.

If Barrett plays like he did last night, we would be better off with Shepherd, let alone Scrubb.

Re SGA, hopefully OKC is able to deal Westbrook this summer.

Another crap fest from RJ Barrett. Not going to draw conclusions after two summer league games, but it doesn’t look good.

Contrast that to watching Ignas today, Kabengele yesterday and today, and Clarke looking absolutely terrific and I am standing by the call that RJ will not be the best of this draft class. The field is too deep that a couple of these guys will turn out to be real gems.

Here is a nice breakdown of the awful b-ball IQ Barrett is showing.

This is all hopefully fixable as he learns, but not sure the Knicks organization is the best for that.

Ye, awesome showings for many Canadians in summer league yesterday:

* Iggy with 30, 8 rebounds, and the three that sent the game to overtime.
* Clarke with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks and a +23 in 17 minutes. He's going to be so good!
* Kabengele with 19 points (20 a game in summer league so far).
* Naz Long with 21 points and 8 assists (looks great in summer league; Cleaveland's best player by far)
* Michael Mulder with 18 points.
* Shayok didn't play yesterday, but in two games so far scored 17 points a game.

And RJ... In two games so far he has 9 points a game (many minutes), shooting 7/33 (21%!), 2 assists, and 12 TOs, while getting beat on defense multiple times. No doubt he'll get better (already looked a bit better today I thought), but wow, that's some bad playing. Will say one thing -- he's significantly younger than all of the guys above
