I think our pitch is: 1+1 RMLE and you get to start for a playoff team and hit the market again next summer. Its not great, but it could possibly convince a guy like Looney if the Lakers get Kawhi and all other options are gone.

Needless to say, were gonna have a bottom 3/5 big man situation in the league.

Brace yourself for the sketchiest of band-aid bigs until the trade deadline.

The team has to see what they have with Hayward and whether they want to keep Jaylen on his next contract - it's probably too early to decide on both counts. There's also the lesser question of whether Carsen and Romeo can play right away, which might make Smart available as a trade piece. Heck, there's even the possibility that we sell on Tatum to try to get a really nice big in here.

Those ideas are going to take time to take form.

In the meantime, I expect Ainge to keep Theis and use the room exception for maximum trade ballast.

Not sure if allowable in CBA... Can we do something like this?

1) Trade Semi for Meyers Leonard ($11.3M).
2) Sign Terry Rozier ($17.9M starting salary).
3) Trade Rozier (17.9), Yabu (3.1), Baynes (5.5):

BOS gets Kemba (32.7), 32nd pick, 2020 MIL 1st, asset from CHA
CHA gets Rozier
PHO gets Baynes, Yabu, 24th pick

Is this legal? Satisfies salary matching since Rozier isn't BYC.
It doesn't have to be Leonard but a big we can trade for around that salary $.

I will never understand cap space. We lost Kyrie, Horford, Rozier, Baynes, most likely Morris. That’s going to be like $70 million or more off the books and we take back $35m in Kemba and we have $4.7 left to sign someone. Numbers don’t make sense.

And I don’t care to have it explained to me either. Something needs to change with how they make up their rules regarding cap space.

The most likely way at this point to get a good center is via trade.
