Only if we can talk brk into playing and making Kyrie part of a three team s and t.

As the Kemba S and T doesn’t do it. We have to absorb Kemba into cap space and hence operate as an under the cap team. Need the three team deal to operate as an over the cap team so we can count Kyrie as outgoing salary. This is my understanding

Miami needs to get under the apron because it is hard-capped as a result of the prospective Jimmy Butler sign-and trade.

Philly used the capspace created by the Butler S&T to sign Al Horford.

Miami's plans to dump Goran Dragic on Dallas ran askew when Dallas said it wanted Kelly Olynyk and Derrick Jones instead.

Miami does not want to give up Derrick Jones. Jones is a promising young small forward.

Where do the Cs enter the picture. Because we can convert the Horford signing into a sign-and-trade, it opens up lots of possibilities for the Cs.

We might be able to take Olynyk from the Heat, for example. That would be a decent veteran big to plug into the line-up.

Or, crazily, we could take back Whiteside, but also get Miami's lightly protected or even unprotected no. 1 picks in 2023 and 2025.

Or we might be able to use this as an opportunity or make certain we get th eful MLE.

There are an infinite number of possibilities, that only Svengalis working inside NBA front offices can imagine.

I raise it as something to keeop your eye in today.

#4 LOL at my idea of getting Dinwiddie from the Nets for free and absorbing Gallo w/ Robinson and a MIA 1st attached to him. Not realistic at all. I don't think there even was a 1st round pick that got traded yesterday.

Kemba / Smart
Hayward / Langford
Tatum
Looney / G Williams
Olynyk / R Williams

You want to trade Brown for Olynyk?

Love me some KO, but got hold out for a better big if you are dangling JB

People really need some sleep if they are suggesting we trade Brown for Olynyk!!!

One thing that I think is being missed in the Tatum/Brown development angle is that player development is closely connected to team play.

And team play is connected to a balanced roster.

Without a balanced roster, you end up losing games that you should win. And this affects player development.

When I see a post about Tatum and Brown stepping up being more important than getting a legit center, I say they are dependent on each other.

If we start out losing games because we don't have a legit center, Tatum and Brown are going to struggle developing into their natural roles. Stevens is going to have to start experimenting with line ups to try to win games and it's going to get everything out of whack.

If you want Tatum and Brown to develop properly, we NEED a legit center.

This explains a lot. No doubt the Celtics already have one or two guys lined up, but everybody has to wait to see what they can actually pay. It probably also is the reason that some decent names have not signed anywhere yet.

Huh? BYC-like rules apply to Rozier's salary in any trade salary-matching scenario.

In the current scenario where the trade is just between Boston and Charlotte, BYC is not triggered. Celtics sign Rozier into cap space before trading him. But we can't absorb any more salary since our cap space is limited. Kemba's $32.7 alone almost eats up all of it.

Right. But one reason the situation is that simple is because BYC gets in the way of beneficially complicating it.

Yep and looking at guys like Corey Joseph getting more than 10 per year the MLE PG crop would be thinner than the room exception Big crop. I feel what is happening is the best given the turd Kyrie left us without flushing.

We were one of the best defensive teams in the league (at least statiscally) with IT and no Horford. Amir Johnson was our C lol

It doesn't take an All Star. Get a decent defensive minded big and we'll be fine on that end. Then it's all getting that chemistry right offensively.

Kemba didn't have to write that Players' Tribune article. He could've just borrowed my gif. Class act Kemba.

Kanter seems likely if they get the full MLE.

A guaranteed starting spot would be appealing to him.

Before free agency began the Celtics were linked to Kanter and Looney. Now WCS is available. I'd be surprised if they don't get at least one of those three guys.

No.

If a team re-signs its Bird or Early Bird free agent in order to trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction, the player's new salary is greater than the minimum, he receives a raise greater than 20%, and the team is at or above the cap immediately after the signing, then the player's outgoing salary for trade purposes is either his previous salary or 50% of his new salary, whichever is greater.

All 3 things need to be true for the BYC rule to be applied. Celtics would be under the cap after signing him, therefore BYC for Rozier would not apply.

If Kemba comes in via a trade that leaves the Cs under the cap, who cares, and how are we in what I called a "trade salary-matching scenario"?
If Kemba comes in via a trade that puts the Cs over the cap, what was the outgoing salary, even if Rozier counts at 100%?

Kanter, WCS or Looney? I don't know who I'd choose, but I really don't think Kanter is what we need, unless Brad can suddenly make him a good defender.

Had my hopes up on Favors and now this ffs
