Free agency “starts” “now.”

We can’t tell you anything until July 6.
3:00 PM - 30 Jun 2019

I was trying to figure out what's so important about the 6th?.

Apparently I found out today, GS can flip Russell before the 6th or dec 15.

Can anyone confirm?.

July 6th is just the actual day the contracts can be signed.

You guys are reading way too much into this tweet that went out (the exact minute) that FAs could start talking to teams. If you notice, the only people announcing signings are media personalities. No team has said "We're happy to announce we have KD and Kyrie."

This tweet means literally nothing.

Forget the tweet, can GS still move Russell before the 6th?

I they want to reroute him a third way, sure it is possible.

Read this morning that Nets have to be compensated with a pick for the S&T. GS gave a slgihtly protected 2024 pick to Memphis for cap space. No way is Russel worth KD (though injured) Iggy, a slightly protected 1st & another FRP from GS.

There's got to be more to this deal where another team compensates the Nets for facilitating the S&T where the 2024 pick is all GS is giving up in trade & GS address their depth issues.

Am I reading too much into this?.

Right, it’s possible but it’s not happening. I’m afraid that the teams that needed to work with us have been holding us over a barrel. GSW would be the same. Yeah, they’d allow us to enter a three-way trade, only if we give up a premium. It’s sucks but it’s the reality. I think the Knicks would have been able to help us, but once free agency started and fans grew more pissed because they struck out, there was no way the Knicks were going to take on our bad assets to help us sign Russell. The optics would have been terrible.

I know I'm wrong...but we all know why GS lost last yr was depth. They know it too. Adding DLO...does it really add depth?

I think(hope) he gets flipped to us for depth. Roco Teague dieng whoever would help that team tremendously. Or are they goin in thinking 120m tied to steph dlo klay and dray is good enough for 82 games+playoffs. Their bench is now without iggy. They need forwards and bigs much more than they need DLo and what he brings

People do realize the Minnesota just lost the recruiting battle, right? Like, all the melodrama over the fact that D'Angelo Russell chose Golden State.

I told you to come strong fast! I was being honest. I actually like the Wolves as my West Coast team and wanted to see DLO with Towns.

I'm not sure that's the case at all. I haven't heard that reported anywhere, have you?

As far as I know, Wolves didn't have (or at the very least, couldn't come up with) the cap to make the move.

If you have come across documentation that says otherwise I'd be interested in checking it out.

He may have chose Minnesota if we were able to (you know) pay him.

I think you may believe what you are saying. The hold up wasn't the Nets. The hold up was finding cap space. That's something the Nets didn't have to give.

With this trade, GSW have 5 players & are 18.2m below the hard cap to fill out 9 roster slots.

Memphis who facilitated the salary dump to net Russel have 9 players at the SF/PF position (3J, Crowder, Parsons, Clarke, Anderson, Iggy, Miles, Bruno, Brooks) they need to find a way to drop roster spots... or consolidate these players into 1. With the 17m TPE already used to net Russell from the Nets.

Maybe he was but FA opened on Sunday. You can't predict how all of the dominoes will fall.

We don't know what went on behind closed doors.

I'm not sure whether Russell on a max deal would've been a good thing or a bad thing but my passion for this organization is at an all time low. Thank goodness for ice fishing and Don Julio.

That's exactly where I am too. Thank goodness I'm 52 and my girlfriend is 25 - and lives in South Carolina. It may be time for big changes. Hawks maybe? Ugh. So much for questioning the norm, because yesterday was just another norm day for this cursed team.

Losing out on Russell definitely feels like a reverse underneath kick in the nuts. Not because we lost out on a great opportunity to improve the roster, but because it's obvious KAT got his hopes up. That's probably the biggest issue I have with our pursuit of DLo.

Now that being said, I think that missing out on DLo is a blessing in disguise. Think about what it would have taken to off load our lousy contracts... Were we really considering trading some combination of Culver, Okogie, and draft picks for the opportunity to max Russell? That is a lateral move at best.

We need to take the long view. No more signing middling free agents to $15M+ per year contracts. No more trading away draft picks for the opportunity to overpay a Free Agent.

The best value contracts in the league are max contracts to top 25 players, and rookie contracts. That means we should be accumulating as many draft picks as possible. When guys like Dieng and Wiggins are approaching free agency off their rookie contracts, we need to trade them at the deadline and replenish draft capital.

This doesn't make sense. All signs pointed to the Wolves. I think somethings up still.

I think people are just speculating that they may trade him down the road because he really doesn’t fit with Steph/Thompson, etc. I don’t think they are making this a three way trade. And if they did, the cost would be exorbitant. To do this, they already moved a key member of their rotation (Iggy) and a very very lightly protected first that may be lotto by the time it comes around.
