Which of the bigs left on the market can effectively set picks and get rebounds - oh and not get embarrassed defensively, that's what Ainge needs to acquire. Or else there has to be a trade in the works. Why bother with half measures in signing Kemba if you aren't going to provide him a big to set him screens and make him an effective pick and roll player. Richaun Holmes is a name that still has intrigue for me is he still available?

Your panicking. There are moves yet to be completed. The Butler trade is a big deal if he can't get a S&T done with HOU or MIA that may change a lot of things around the league. Ainge magically pulls Kemba out of a hat after Kyrie and Al walk let him do his thing. It doesn't matter how many other FA's sign with other teams what is important is that Ainge gets the right guy at the right price for Boston.

No. He is a huge defensive presence who is going to get expolited in the pick and roll and he can dunk and finish at the rim but has no real offensive game outside of 5 ft.

Cousins on a similar GSW deal is probably best case scenario for us now.


Somebody explain to me why we traded Baynes if we were using a sign and trade to get Kemba? I just don't understand any of it. Could we not have kept his 5M and added it to Semi and Yabu to match a trade for a C making around 12M or so? If the sign and trade still forces us to renounce Morris and not get a full MLE. What was the point of it? I'm so confused.

Maybe - but it does seem like a glaring hole in the line up. At this point the sign and trade stuff feels like a golden ring to point to distract from the very real need the Celtics have? I get it is day one of free agency, but I'm allowed to feel my feelings!

The talent is there, but his legs are shot. I think he has both a quad tear that hasnt healed properly and achilles issue.

I think Boston will use whatever exception we get to sign WCS. Sac has rejected his QO before FA started and gone in a different direction. He is an upgrade over timelord (at this time) but both play a similar game. I also see us signing Kaminsky for the vet min as sort of a Brook Lopez lite. I also think we will bring over Poirier. That will give us:

c- WCS, Timelord, Poirier (Tacko as 2-way)
pf- Tatum, Theis, Williams, Kaminsky


not ideal, but is better defensively than Kanter, and much less of a headache than Boogie or Noel. Just my hunch

We probably didn't get word that Kemba was even a thing until after the draft when we made the trade. I think we were looking to have 25m for a guy like Vuc and Rozier cap hold. (it was reported by many). Then Jordan happened. He started low balling Kemba, not only not offering supermax, but offering him less than the regular max. He went on a trip with Jordan and Tatum for the shoes and all of a sudden Reload comes in and drops the bomb we are going all out for him. I wonder who our source was that wasn't a team or agent?

Well we needed to have the ability to straight up sign him before Charlotte helps us do it.

Just seems like they could have set the trade up and pulled the trigger only when needed. It wasn't the most complex trade in the world tbh. Just feels like they rushed it..or maybe they had no intention of going after Kemba at that point.
