This is interesting, doesn’t the league have to determine what is unlikely? And does that change year to year?
Unlikely goals are based on what the team or player did last year.

Yes. But since Brooklyn didn’t make the 2nd round this past year, it would start as “unlikely”. They still have to sign the players and fit their full salary (bonus included) into their cap, but it would then fall off immediately since the bonus would be unlikely. Then sign DAJ. Basically, this tool can be used, but it can’t be used on your “last” FA signing.

Got it, so that makes something similar for the Lakers not helpful.
MoneyTalks41890 wrote:I'm still really curious about this though, unlikely is based entirely on past team performance? That seems like a loophole that you could drive a truck through.

Correct. A guy like Kawhi would have to agree to less, with the possibility of the bonus. It really would have no ultimate difference for them. It’s really if you have more than max space or multiple max space.MoneyTalks41890 wrote:I'm still really curious about this though, unlikely is based entirely on past team performance? Solely on previous season. Player has to agree to it and again, that’s why they have to be able to fit it into their cap before it falls off.
Mostly could just be a way to get one more smaller salaries guy (generally under $5m) on the books of a team an player wanted to.

Noel is worth more than the tax MLE.HartfordWhalers wrote:jbk1234 wrote:That's nuts to me.MoneyTalks41890 wrote:Noel back to the Thunder. Guessing it’s tax MLE?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327A using RealGM mobile app
Which way?

Technically LAL is like 500k short of a max. So would let kawhi get his max.

I'm going to thank Cuban for taking a potential Lakers target away too if Kawhi doesn't go there.

I mean it's Kawhi, Danny Green, or ?

The buyout market might actually be where they bring in the best talent.

Reke is done for now.
Maybe at that point they take someone like Teague in a trade? One year deal that won't require comp going back. But hard to find a match of teams willing to help the Lakers and have those kind of players they want to give away.

Re-sign Kleber, DFS, Barea and that's an off-season done, no?
Also no more deals past 2021 after Curry I assume.
