Re: Wizards 2019 Offseason Thread
Wall will be fine when he comes back...doesn’t matter how he plays..Beal should evolved to become harden like this season with him being the only option...
We moved away from a team of players who need wall to feed them...
Rui/Troy can create for themselves especially Troy he can be another quality ball handler while on the floor with wall and Beal...
Tb going to be tb...I see him being capela lite at the worst...
So even if wall comes back the same wall the team has changed completely and don’t need to rely on him to get them looks...they can get their own And if he can’t find them open they can create they’re on

He forgot about Robinson. And McRae and TP are NG contracts and Jones is only good for 100 k80sballboy wrote:

I think John Wall gave up on defense in the 2nd half of the 2016-17 season, perhaps due to the toll of playing the entire games that left him fatigue by the time the postseason came around and hasn't looked the same on that end since. I think he has been the weak link defensively in the starting lineup over the last two playoff series (at least until Otto got injured and then the Wizards had to rely on an inexperienced Kelly Oubre in game 6 against Toronto)
He looked like he was dealing with an injury so he has to recover from that as well as his Achilles injury which he wasn't able to do in 2018-19 .
Shaved bone spurs in his heels. There's nothing you can do to rest bone spurs. Surgery was the only option. I had a hangnail once and wouldn't run for a city bus. Nah y'all go on ahead I'll catch the next one. John was running those chase down blocks with his skeleton trying to grow through his skin. 100% chance he can run better and more willingly if he is not in that kind of pain.

Yup bone Spurs are all about how much you can handle the pain. If we were contenders he would have just delt with it I'm sure. But no reason to out your self in pain for nothing. The effort will return once hes not in pain all the time.

He'll need to adapt his gifts at seeing the angles to instead be a guy to make off-ball cuts and generate those angles for the ball handler.
It's certainly possible, but I'm not sure it's probable. As I've said before, I think Wall's identity is that of a ball dominant PG. It's who he is. He's the star that sets everyone up. He's the guy that leads the league in time of possession every year. He doesn't have to be the guy that scores 25, but he absolutely wants to be the guy that gets 11 assists. For Wall to succeed in his second basketball life, his new role will be a rich man's Satoransky - a guy that plays high energy defense, makes hard cuts, keeps the ball moving, hits a catch-and-shoot when the opportunity presents itself. Wall can do all that as well as Sato plus run a fast break much better. But that type of guy is a guy whose positive impact doesn't necessarily show up in the box score and isn't always noticed by the average fan. I'm not sure Wall's ego can accept that.
I don't agree with some of the changes you say Wall needs to make. I think Wall's primary strength is--and will likely always be--getting easy and open shots for teammates. I still want him to be the Zards primary ball handler, the guy who sets everyone up and averages 10-11 assists a game. Wall's vision and smarts will allow him to continue to thrive in that role, imo.
I do agree, however, that John needs to learn to rely more on his IQ than his physical skills. He also needs to be less ball dominant than he's been in the past and move more when he doesn't have the ball.
But the idea of Wall duplicating what Sato did for the Zards and essentially being a rich man's Sato is not one that I agree with.

Maybe not Satoransky but something like Kyle Lowry where he gets in shape, adds a 3 point shot, and plays really good defense. Wall has more athletic gifts than someone like Lowry just needs to add a 3 point shot and get back to it defensively earlier in his career. It also looks like Wall has kept in shape with this offseason surgery.

Yes...becoming the 3 pt. threat that Kidd became late in his career is definitely something that Wall needs to do.

I hope the heat trade talk are for wall. And we hear about it soon . My thing isn't the how's wall going to come back. my thing is Beal needs to be the guy and we need to move on from wall. Anderson and Johnson for wall. No assets just a flat player for player trade would be nice.

Re: Wizards 2019 Offseason Thread
We are at 15 players. 12 have guaranteed contracts (1, Robinson, is only partially guaranteed). McRae, Phillip & Jones are unguaranteed. We also believe that the team is trying to move Howard & will buy him out if unsuccessful.
McRae & Phillip I have no interest in. Furkan Korkmaz is unsigned, & I'd lot rather have him if he is available cheaply. He's still only 21. His numbers were about the same last year as McRae's, a little better in fact. In twice as many minutes & as a rookie (effectively -- he played 80 minutes in 2017-18).
Brown may be the primary backup at both the 1 & the 2, but obviously we'll need more depth than that, so until/unless someone replaces him, McRae is it.
That seems to leave Admiral & Jones at the 3. Brown too, I guess, but he can't be the primary backup at 3 positions!
Does Rui start at the 4? Might be a lot to ask of a rookie. Is Wagner his primary backup? Mo was terrible last year. Neither of those guys rebound well either. Noah Vonleh, Christian Wood, & Richaun Holmes are still available. One of them would be a nice pickup for us. That would require either Phillip or Howard to be gone.
At C, obviously, it's Bryant. & Mahinmi -- if Dwight is gone.
Seems like we might need Jones to play a lot; otherwise. we are going to have some serious rebounding problemsl

Johannes Voigtmann could fit into what we have left of the MLE. 3 for 15 would be fair for him same as we gave Sato the first time around. He can play both 4 and 5 and would get minutes offer Ian for sure and be the the 4 the guy in a nice young rotation of Bryant , mo, rui and JV! Let's go !

I think Admiral may play some 2 guard in the NBA. He’s strong long armed and quick with range to his game. The 3rd fastest lane agility of SFs in this draft. Switchability is key. He will fight through picks and take up wide space. I see him as a back up at both 2 & 3 depending on who is out there with him.

Yep, been hoping for something like that myself. Maybe they’re willing to take Dwight too after dumping Whiteside? Or maybe turn the PDX deal into a 3-way so we can get Harkless? I’d also like to get Dragic back if I could, but that’s not a dealbreaker. There’s a few Wall-to-Miami combos that would work IMO.
