He's a pretty decent defender and can at least knock down the deep ball (35% career 3 point shooter). He's not here for his offense that's for sure lol

Yeah I was checking his advanced defensive stats. They were ok nothing great and neither is his range. Just seems very meh. I think we could have done better maybe. What do I know, I'll trust Marks.

I had the same experience. Generally, I know Temple as a really solid 3&D role player and at 6'6 that's a type of guy you cannot have enough players of. But as you say, his advanced metrics aren't that good actually.

I'm also wondering whether the Nets could have signed a bigger upgrade for the room MLE and I would feel better with him on a minimum level deal. However, Marks is the man and has all my trust.

Why are we arguing about lineups, especially considering that it’s just the first full day of free agency.

Who cares who starts...every core player will get playing time.

Temple was a pretty big deal in the Spurs i'm guessing Marks knows him for a while and believe he will help be the glue guy for our perimter game.

Temple is kind of Graham' s replacement. I do wonder if we could have gotten a better player, but they might have been looking for a willing role and chemistry guy

The signing occurred way too quickly for it to not have been something long in the works, either from Nets management side or from Kyrie/KD’s side.

If Temple has history with the Spurs, then it probably makes sense that Marks had been thinking about this for some time.

I agree. Clearly there was familiarity there given how quickly it happened. I just don't know that he's worth it. I don't know the market, but my non expert opinion is that vet glue guys like Temple can be had for the vet minimum and the RE would have been better off going to a guy who gives us more depth at 4.

I wonder if we could get Rondae back on a 1+1 deal on a minimum contract? he seems to have 0 interest around the league right now and may have more next year when there are less quality FAs

I think Temple will probably be depth at the wing. Kurucs/Prince i think is pretty solid there with Joe/Temple at the other wing spot

So who fills out this roster? KD wont count agains the 15 while he is injured

1. Kyrie
2. Dinwiddie
3. Harris
4. Levert
5. Temple
6. Prince
7. Kurucs
8. Allen
9. Jordan
10. Musa
11. Pinson
12. Claxton
13.
14.
15.
16. Hands
17. Williams

Thats 3 roster spots. here are some suggestions for the minimum:

Quincy Acy: Was here, a fan favorite, floor spacer and very solid defender. took a ton of charges

Dudley: would he take the minimum?

tyson chandler: would he take the minimum and be a 3rd string at this point in his career?

Rondae: no interest from any team right now, maybe tries to up his value back here 1 year working with our development staff?

Quincy pointdexter: fits our mold at forward

It’s still really early in free agency.

I expect that he’ll probably get late than the minimum from someone. If not, I’d love to have him back.

I really wonder what happened to him. It’s kinda sad, because he was trending in a really positive direction his 2nd year. I wonder if that groin tear did some permanent damage or if he regressed to the level he’ll always be at.

From what I understand, Dudley has been in Brooklyn and chatting as if he’s still on the team. Good chance that he comes back. It would be good to have him even as a player-coach for the sake of some continuity.

I think we bring in Dudley and a PG unless somebody too good to pass up lingers in FA. We'll likely keep an open roster spot as well.

I think Dudley coming back is a must.

I would love to have Rondae back on a 1+1 if no one signs him. The guy can play.
We also could use a veteran at PG.

My list:
JaMychel Green
Marcus Morris
RHJ
Delon Wright
Caldwell Pope
Jeff green
Shumpert
Vonleh
Chriss
Meeks
Mack

Now I know some of these guys are chasing the money and won't want to sign here for the vet min, but some guys would enjoy being here with this team and join a contending team. We need a 3rd sting point guard, power forward, and either another wing or a big man that can play F/C . I really want JaMychel Green as a F/C type and Shumpert for defense against guard/wings. A vet point guard like Lin will be good in case of injuries etc... We could take a flyer on a young guy like Chriss.

He could barely get on the floor for Toronto.

I don’t know if he’s still serviceable.

Dragan Bender, Sam Dekker, and Stanley Johnson are nice picks up if we can get em for the minimum

he would have no choice, not teal will give him more.

I'm not against lin the mentor/coach, but he cant play and id rather not use a spot on a glorified player coach. With Dudley at least he can step in and give minutes while needed.

maybe lure tony parker out of retirement?
