PG: Isaiah Thomas/Ish Smith/Issac Bonga/Justin Robinson
SG: Bradley Beal/Jordan McRae
SF: Troy Brown Jr./Admiral Schofield/Jemmario Jones
PF: Rui Hachimura/Mo Wagner/Jonathan Simmons
C: Thomas Bryant/Dwight Howard/Ian Mahinmi
Beal is going to have a transcendent season...
This is one of the better teams we had going into the season (not on paper but being hungry) especially with brooks...no obligation to play guys cause of they’re name or reputation (except hachimura, who deserves all the minutes) and no reason to tank because of the way the draft is setup
just put the hardest working guys on the floor with Beal and let them grind for their minutes, this is what I think Denver and the nets did...
All nba players are capable is mostly effort and mentality...every single player on our roster has a reason to come in and play hard every night..
Brooks don’t have to deal with multiple alpha egos for the first time in his career, and we can see if he really had a hand in developing Westbrook and harden and ibaka...
We honestly can make the playoffs next year...
Edit) *******...Why would we want to make the playoffs and lose out on a lottery draft pick??
well if we do
WE BUILD A CULTURE OF WINNING...even with scrubs..
We show the league and possible future free agents(Beal) we can create a successful season in the worst position..(ala the nets)
Our young players get that taste of a big stage...most importantly to Ted we get some revenue past the regular season*****
That’s if we can make the playoffs...

Re: Wizards 2019 Offseason Thread
IT can not be our starting PG. He is coming off an injury, and we cant count on him working to being a starter, working starter minutes, etc. I know he is a warrior and will do what it takes to be the best he can be. Bug, I think injuries and father time has the best of him.
Bottom line is that we still need a starting PG, among other things. Shep's work is not done.

Point guard is the weak link...glaringly...
but There isn’t any other guys on the roster who shouldn’t be able to play good defense...they’re all young guys trying to make a name for theyre self...if they can’t play d, they must have amazing offense or they’re not going to get minutes
It’s simple....none of them have big contracts that we obligated to give minutes too...
We can afford to put our hardest workers on the floor...something most teams can’t do or have already paid the guys that do

Y'all know how piff feels about Jones. I feel that way about Johannes Voigtmann !!! Which we still have I believe 3.9 or so of the MLE left give him that for 3-4 years sort of like the first Sato deal. He plays PF and center so he fits when and if we cut Howard and cut Simmons.

We have our Bi exception too . Which is 3.4 or something on a two year deal I'd call and offer that to Stanley Johnson. Good defender and two years would be a good way for him to prove himself and make him self more money cuz hes not likely to get more else where. Plus wee need wing depth.

Signing Smith was bad. Would rather have signed Payton or kept Satoransky with an eye towards a trade next year.

If IT lights it the **** up he becomes super valuable to a play off team. Smith is a two year deal, ain't bad. Payton can't stay healthy, if it was the same deal sure, but paying what he got, that is a mistake in my opinion. Smith is ok. You can make the argument that with Robinson and bonga on the team if we were going to sign IT anyway that 6 mill would have been better spent getting R.Holmes but that's splitting hairs.

Big holes at SF and PF. Unless Beal has another gear then we wont be a playoff team

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

If we have room I'd be interested in Glenn Robinson III as a low cost SF.

Re: Wizards 2019 Offseason Thread
If that’s it. If it’s add IT then are done for the offseason I’d say I’m not overwhelmed. A little underwhelmed I guess after the early promise of some decent moved with the TPEs. Mildly whelmed.
In the Saty trade we lost a guy I liked, an energizer bunny who was truly the catalyst for the unselfish “everybody eats” style of play that won us some games we had no business winning. We replaced him with future chances to select players. And the opportunity to upgrade our picks. Okay.
But then we recruited a couple guys in the back court who are filling out roster spots. Good guys. Hard workers. Good attitude. But not guys who will win us much. Still they don’t cost much. Other than losses and defensive problems. And a spot on the bench for someone who may be better over time.
In that respect I’d rather have the roster spot to land a breakout player from Summer league or the D league or who is hidden on another team’s bench behind a proven all star.
If PG was what we were looking for I was more intrigued by our UFA signings. Not just Justin. But Corey Davis who seemed like he had the moxie to rise above the chatter and signal noise that is the Summer League and show he had game at both ends. At least those two Justin and Corey are noted for being scrappy defenders.
We have needed PG defense for years. A guy who will pressure the point of attack and can keep in front of the speedy killers and make them work for their points. It’s demoralizing for your front court players and teaches them bad habits of leaving their man and floating in a no mans land underneath if they constantly have to spin to chase a quick guy who has broken through. That’s a foul more often than not if they try to defend from chasing. So why try to defend it. Coaches pull you when you get fouled.
But okay. At least we recruited those UFA players in the first place? And the guys ahead of them are cheap?
We still may trade Simmons. We still have a decent sized TPE. But if this is the shape of our roster. Yeah. We have no defense. No rebounding. And no one to exemplify how to play the right way at that end.
(Jones I guess? Who likely won’t play).

Re: Wizards 2019 Offseason Thread
Took a quick look at teams that have cap/tax issues and how those teams might make for interesting trade partners using the Morris TPE.
Golden State - Livingston has a guaranteed date in mid-July for $7.6 million with a $2 million buyout. I'd play hard ball here and ask for Golden State's 2020 1st round pick. I don't know if they make the playoffs next season.
Milwaukee - others have brought it up, but Ersan makes a ton of sense. They're getting two second round picks and a 1 from Indiana so maybe we get get both of those second round picks depending on what the year is? If I had to guess, Milwaukee already owes Indiana a 2021 2nd rounder...I'm thinking they get that back.
OKC - only contract that fits in the TPE is Patrick Patterson. Just seems like a waste of the TPE to be honest.

I really wish we could undo the Ish Smith signing and use that money to grab Noah Vonleh. Adding Vonleh and Davis to the rotation would certainly amp up the defensive intensity.

Nope...we were a horrendous defensive team last year and we've gotten considerably worse. Maybe historically.
But not going to knock your optimism.
