I think we completely overplayed our hand with Kleber and Powell. They are not worth $18-20M annually in this current market environment for big. I somewhat see the stretch big-factor playing in Maxi's favor but it's not like he's a knockdown shooter. One of those deals would have been plenty enough.
For instance Powell alone makes more than Cauley-Stein, Robin Lopez and someone like Theis combined next season. Kids like Gafford from Arkansas fell to the high 30s.
It's remarkable how team-friendly the big men-market has become...
Those guys (WCS and Lopez) took those deals in order to play for a contender. Dallas is not a contender at this point so vets are not going to be willing to play for the vet min to sign here.

Don't be front office apologist.
RoLo would sign with Dallas for maybe $2-3m more.
Offer WCS starting role he'd sign for the same money. And he's a RFA. If he signed a cheap contract just to play at contender it can get matched. And then he'll be at mercy of Kings FO.
Honestly, I hate even the FA rumors for Mavs.
Trading for Olynk, Dragic, Gallinari...
Why do people assume Dallas look for another offensive player without any defense or athleticism?
Thad Young+Beverley signed for 80m/4 year.
Give them 100m/4 year and they'd be here for sure.
Even K.Looney, WCS, Harkless trade would be good options. If Mavs offered 22m/3 year to K.Looney
-instead of 15- do you think he'd refuse it?

Kleber-Powell are overpaid and long contracts. Seth Curry is either too long contract or overpay.
S.Curry struggled get a minimum contract for many years. He didn't played huge role or sth for Portland. 32m/4 year? Its not like he showed consistent performance for 2-3 years.
Even Knicks put some trade options in their contracts. I think those signings are below average.
