I also see this board splitting down the middle on whether Randle is good or just stat padding fool’s gold.

well i can admit i havent seen much of him...

This is Julius Randle in a nutshell. Watch them both, one after the other.

Easily our best signing.

He’s awesome facing the basket.

He can do something we haven’t had a in a while - big who can grab the rebound and bring it up.

Will find the open.

Good roll guy.

Great footwork.

Should be our quasi backup C if we go small.

He’s getting paid the same rate as Barnes who’s not nearly as good, but on a 2 year deal with a team option on year 3.

I hope he plays a lot with the kids b/c he could actually stick for the long term. I also hope we have some lineups where it’s him and 4 shooters so he can put in work.

This and this alone was a solid plan B move.

He´s a monster on the offensive end, and he improves each season on defense.

I´m very happy he ended up in New York, he will thrive in MSG.

I like the toughness we acquired this offseason. He and Portis plus RJ’s competitiveness will influence and impact this young team.

Can Randle have a Amar'e type impact in the first half of 2010?

Randle has a handle! Our team is going to be fast next year and we are going to have some ball handlers on the floor. This guy has that NYC chip on his shoulder. He reminds me of a poor man's Chris Webber.

I'd love to see this guy continue to develop and, if his defense improves, becoming our power forward for a while. Weaker PFs like KP will have a tough time with him.

To me it looks like LA didn’t bring him back because they brought in new management that wanted to make their own mark on the franchise (kind of like we did after Phil got fired) so they let him leave in free agency. The pelicans only signed him to a 1 year deal with a player option, and it just happens they drafted Zion who plays his same position so they didn’t want to spend the kind of money it would take to bring him back when they just drafted Zion because it wouldn’t be a good fit.

Yeah left the Lakers as they remade the team, and just no reason for Pelicans to pay a lot for a big now.

That said, yeah he's not a highly dominant player as of yet and probably as of ever. I don't think even our interest in him, and our contract, reflects top 5 player or anything.

That pass was cold.

He was dribbling and set up the confrontation, then passed off for the 3. Awesome.

His lackadaisical attitude on D in that second clip is pretty Amar’e-ZBo. Standing straight up, pointing as his man cuts without the ball, watching as perimeter players score in the paint, ducking under picks before the pick is even set.

This will drive fans INSANE.

This board will be vehemently split on Randle.

Don't overlook the chemistry Randle has with Payton. Looking at some highlights for both guys while in NO, you'll see them both looking for each other a lot. Hopefully they share the floor in spurts, can't have too many competent passers.
