Knicks got other things to worry about then waiting for Kawhi, praying he signs here.
All the B tier free agents are all already signed up so Kawhi wasn't coming here to play alone.

If we met with Kawhi, we would still be waiting and missing out on all of the free agents we just signed.
JUST PLAY THE KIDS ALREADY!!!!!

Literally everyone who has reported on it said that we had the meeting scheduled for July 3rd and canceled it.
I don't know why that's hard to believe.

No need to waste anyone’s time. He was never coming here. Not a chance. Especially after KD followed Kyrie to BK.
It’s only being brought up to stir the pot. People started saying we made the right decision. The media can’t have that in its narrative. So time to stir up some stew.

If Kawhi goes back to Toronto, the Lakers will find out real quick why waiting was not ideal.

As I've said before, we need to stop looking for saviors and start developing our own. Get guys who want to be here.
I mean, why in the world do these star players need to be convinced to play for a team? It's so silly imo that they don't understand the situation they would be in themselves. They should be self-aware of what it will take to handle coming to a place like New York and the reward of winning here.
Having a guy essentially put your team on hold for days in FA is just putting your team at a disadvantage - especially when to be honest with ourselves, we were a long shot. If Kawhi really wanted to come here, he'd make his decision ASAP to surround himself with the best available players instead of days later when they are all committed. I want guys who want to be here, trying to convince them just seems...lame.

the only obnoxious thing is this Dolanesque need to get in front of it and let everyone know we weren't fired, we quit. It may be true some of the time, but def not all the time. Dolan is baby Trump

Did people not see how fast guys are signing? And how slow hes being with deciding? Lord knows what the backlash would be if we were rejected tomorrow and had 70 mil in cap to spend on....Cousins?
**** that.

2019 and signing stars was the plan they layed out and openly talked about.
Im not mad we didnt sign any star. I always said it was a long shot and a bad plan because we would suck with KP out and nobody would want to come to a bad team.
The worst part is we are not really trying and our plan B is not good. Its basically the same as plan A. It just pointless to use the stretch and clear cap if we apparently have no interest in any top free agents.
That we were so worried about missing out to overpay for 1 year the free agents we signed makes things even worse...good thing we got Bullocks to take us from 26 wins to 28 wins. Pass on those 1st rounders and a .000001% chance at Kawhi

Anyone in here complaining about how we cancelled the meeting with KL needs to get a grip on reality!
He wasn't coming here and there would be nobody left to sign that's worth a damn.

Non story. Any second now they’ll start praising us as low key being smart. We have a core piece in Jules and possibly Portis. We are clearly intrigued with Elf. And if the other guys don’t fit they’re all perfect trade pieces.
We did good fellas. We needs power forwards. We got a 20-10 guy who’s still improving. We got another 24 year old with stretch potential. I like Jordan Bell too but cmon....he’s an athlete. Not a player. We needed toughness and youth and power up front. We needed shooting. And we needed flexibility. Check, check and check. Imagine us waiting and missing out on Kawhi.
Scott Perry would be out of a job.
And to the pro tank crew.
We need to show that we aren’t a clown franchise.
17 wins might get us RJ Hampton but it’ll be another front office making the selection. We don’t necessarily need playoffs and we aren’t gonna montage the future if the eighth seed is within sight come deadline time....
But we cannot win 17 games again.
That’s more important than playing fantasy basketball in real time.

I'm a bit annoyed we're missing out on some salary dumps. We probably could have just dropped Gibson or Portis and gone after a dump.

It shows bad judgement to overpay when its not nescessary.

Would you rather be going into the season with podsibly no RJ with Tim, Lee & Porzingis coming off injury and possibly on the QO?
Legit question because that was the alternative.
I agree with the stretch though, that was unnecessary but now any bad contract is all on Perry. It’s his contracts to control. Plan A should always be Plan A. We should always be flexible enough to be an option for a star. 2020, 2021, 2022....we should always go in free agency wanting the best player. Every team should. It’s when you take yourself out the game when ish gets ugly.
Meanwhile, you go each year focused on developing the young core like everyone wanted. I see a beautiful plan, I don’t see the issue. And the fact that they told us they won’t steer away from the plans for of short term deals while trying to add talent if they miss on the only 2 big fish & stayed to it, I mess with it.

I get the desire to absorb salary dumps for picks, but to be honest, we have a lot of picks and kids. It's time to start really developing them and part of that is having hard playing, high character vets around. The team option does more than just make them one year deals if we choose. it gives those players the opportunity to stick around on their overlays to buy in and help develop and win games. Straight up one year deals are often just an opportunity to showcase
