You know the best thing about a TO 1+1 deal? If a player like Bullock or Portis shows a jump in production & we throw them in a trade for a star at a deadline or something, that new team who may or may not be having some cap issues can just pick the option up with no worries.
If the player is regular, they can just decline the option. It’s up to the team. A team in control is a plus.
1) 2nd round picks. If they're such pieces of crap, I want you to tell me how you feel about Ignas Brazdeikis right now, and how you have zero expectation for him cause he's just a random 2nd. How did the Knicks drafted Mitchell Robinson? Was it that much of a fluke?
2) Taj Gibson, Bullock, Ellington, Portis. Can you seriously tell me that all 4 guys have an equal chance to have a jump in production. Cause it looks to me that when one rises, another will fall. If Portis jumps in production, I'm guessing Taj is probably on the bench and not doing much. If Portis and Taj jump, then something went wrong with Mitch or Knox. It's not even an either-or situation. We could have signed 3 of the 4 and just done a salary dump with the rest. By the way, some of the salary dump players have been way better than our guys. Would that be so bad?
3) Just cause we have 2021 1st doesn't mean that we shouldn't get more assets. I really don't get this argument that much. You would think that we have a roster full of amazing, long-term talent, just from the way you're talking.
1 - if we ever so wanted a 2nd rd pick, we could get them. It’s not that serious. Get over it. Can buy it. Can trade future 2nds, can swap spots with cash like we did a few weeks ago. Please. For every Mitch & Trier is a Mardy Collins & Landry Fields.
2 -Bullock & Portis are upside to improve and fits our system. Won’t take away minutes from our core while putting in their work. Solid role players.
You’re also assuming that those other teams wanted to even deal with the Knicks. Look at those teams and some research might show you that some of the GMs have history together & good relationships. Teams aren’t trying to help the Knicks, open your eyes.
3 - my debate wasn’t that we couldn’t get more assets, it was that nothing is ever good enough for y’all. You think you know what players to add. Y’all got all the answers. Perry is the one who got Vonleh last year on a bargain in the first place. If Perry doesn’t want him back, I’ll side with him. Y’all act like this is a new guy.
