Trader Dan? No. Asleep failed former baseball middle infielder hasn't traded for someone in nearly 2 years.

Post#1 » by Celtics_History_Lesson » Thu Jul 4, 2019 10:56 am

He has nearly been asleep since February, 2015.

The last time he traded for an actual player, August 30, 2017.

July 2018 he sent out a player to save the owners money.

February 2019 he sent out a player to save the owners money.

Recently, sent out Baynes, to save money?

Trading draft picks is just that, and it isn't acquiring a player under an NBA contract.

Someone call up Eugene, see if Aingey-Boy is awake.

If Eugene isn't there, I guess you have a problem.

The Rozier thing doesn't count. Can't spin that as a trade. It was just signing Kemba into money that was free because most of the team were jumping ship, or some say they were pushed.

Asleep at the wheel. Or, he has no assets to trade. Or, he and his overpriced staff are just mailing it in, turning up to the office just to play card games on their computers, and then to set sail for exotic locations on "scouting trips".

If everything was going swimmingly, then no trading to bring someone in might make sense. As the trophy cabinet hasn't been opened for a new addition in a decade, not swimmingly.

Not saying that there are players who want to be traded to Boston, Jake Layman, but there are players who want to be traded to Boston and many others who would help the team and their careers if they did arrive via trade.

Sitting out trade deadlines. Sitting out draft night trades of players. Sitting it all out.

A rough estimate, 5% of his trades have come in the most recent third of his time as Boston's big king of roster movement.

Is this right?

It can't be right.

Zoran Dragic was the third most recent player addition for Boston via trade?

Zoran Dragic!

Maybe Rodney Purvis is the most recent "player" to be traded for, but not counting him. Sounds made up, like Rodney McCray plus Purvis Short. Also, he wasn't being traded for, his disappearing contract was, and then it disappeared.

What is going on there? You have players shooting with tennis rackets on their heads, some Perrier being poured into the lineup from France, players called Yabu and Semi who have proven they are bad over several seasons, a Summer League lineup of nearly all 6-6 shooting guards, and someone called "Trader" Danny who hasn't really traded for a player in two years. 23 months.

In the middle of their big run in the 1960s, they still acquired players, like Clyde Lovellette and Willie Naulls. In between the 1970s titles, they traded for Charlie Scott. In the 1980s, every title had a trade to help, bringing in Parish and then D Johnson and then B Walton. Lots of other trades too. Even when doing the best winning, nobody was asleep, help was being traded for. Today, Daniel and the idiot son are sitting back and taking all the applause for the team getting 49 wins?

There are two nuts still on the roster, when the unwritten rule is a roster that wins should have, at most, one crazy player. There are players with value to move, there are players with little value but at least they could bring back someone similar who also needs a change of team. Nothing. You sit on a chair, Daniel sits on his hands. You have Spencer Dinwiddie using Jedi mind tricks on contracted Celtics players and Aingey-Boy is oblivious? Except for two guys who are disappearing this offseason, the most recent player acquisition who actually played games for the Celtics was the Asian fellow David Lee?

You can't call someone "Trader Dan" when they can't be bothered trading for actual players.

Jake Layman! The Kelly Olynyk! Evan Turner! Derrick Favors! Tomas Satoransky! Zoran Dragic? Goran Dragic!

Poor thread. He traded Baynes for the space to bring in Walker.

Considering that the trade 2 years ago was for Kyrie Irving, any complaints of supposedly low trade activity over a time period longer than that are deeply suspect.

But what makes the complaint utterly absurd is that the Celtics are going to start next season with only TWO players who were on the 2016-2017 roster. Ainge's recent player personnel efforts can reasonably be accused of many things, but inactivity isn't one of them.

Insiders informed me he has a huge trade that is going down on July 6 where we give up a RFA for a max salary 3 time all star. Sounds like another Trader Dan masterpiece.

NBA unfortunately only has 5 players on the court at a time Top Tier players are required to win.

Ainge has not drafted top tier player in 16 years in comparison the much maligned Chris Wallace drafted 2 future hall famers in his 8 years in Boston.

We all admit Boston has trouble bringing in top tier free agents, have to settle for low second tier or third tier players and pay them like top tier. Where on other teams top tier take discounts to allow other come to join.

The best thing Ainge can do is make trades, (Managing the cap and creativity on those lines is Zarren) as CHL has lessoned us above he hasn't made a actually none book keeping trade in 2 years. So the thing he does best he hasn't done. What benefit is having him as a gm.
IN the last 2 year we went from a team that had potential championship contention and a bright future, now we only have a bright future which is rapidly dimming and Irrational hope that something will happen that change our fortune, which we have had for the past 8 years and only happened once 12 years ago when KG decided Ray Allen was enough for him that he could stay in Boston.
IS Ainge better than 70% of the league Yes , because the GMs in the league 50% have crap ownership that mettle, don't spend money, or goals that aren't winning. By all appearances we have good ownership. Is having a gm better than 70% of the garbage good enough NO.

It appears that CHL may have lost a step?...He better hope that Kawhi ends up in La-La land so he can go back to ragging on Toronto.

I am sorry Ernest must of been taking my old man Nap when Leonard, Durant were in town to meet with Danny. Must also been asleep when Lebron was in town last year. There a difference between the a top free agent of the year and a top tier player.

steep drop off from 1 and 2 to 4 .Gordon was middle of the pack 2nd tier we made him the 5th highest paid player that year, Horford was low 2nd Tier (Ask Tommy) and we made him the 5th highest paid player in the league that year, Kemba is a booby prize and again top 10 in salary.

We'll see. Jayson Tatum placed just as high in Rookie of the Year voting as Paul Pierce did. And while I tend to agree he'll make it, Billups isn't a lock for the HoF, and his career superiority over Rondo's can pretty much all be explained by Rondo's injury.

Wrong. In 2016 Al Horford was considered the 2nd best free agent on the market behind KD (who also gave us a meeting). Lebron was not going to leave the cavs in 2016 so it was KD and then horford.

In 2017 Hayward and Blake griffin were the 2 top free agents. Curry and KD weren’t leaving GS so they don’t count. In 2019 we landed kemba and he didn’t take a meeting anywhere else.

While we may not be the destination like a LA or Miami (though we did beat them for Hayward) we have done pretty damn good recently via free agency and you only go after the players that are free agents in the year you have space.

This year was abnormal that you kawhi kyrie and KD all free agents but in a normal year Kemba is a top guy and still a great get.

Let's fire Danny, replace him with CHL, stack our roster with Olynyk and Layman and a bunch of other tall white stiffs CHL has a crush on, lose 70 games, and get next year's #1 pick!

Quick question has Horford, Hayward or Kemba ever been a TOP 10 how bout top 15 guy in the league [YOu may argue 2009 and 2010 Horford was top 15 but we acquired him 7 years later and a few injuries later]. At the time in their career we got Horford and Kemba they are not going to develop into top 10 either. Those free agents are 2nd tier.

Please tell me a team in the last 15 years that won a ship without a player that at some year was at least a top 15 player in the league?

Hayward a question mark with the injury on what could of been but he wasn't even the best player on his old team. And his old team seem to barely skip a beat. Finish 5th and got swept in the WC semifinals with him, finish 5th and won 1 game in the WC Semifinals with out him.

Ainge was primarily a third baseman, not a middle infielder.

By all means, don't change your screen name to "Toronto History Lesson".

The last time anybody officially chose Kemba to be ranked in the top 15 in the league was May 23, 2019.

(Given the balance of talent at various positions in the league, a third-team all-NBA guard is clearly regarded as a top-15 player for the season, and that's the date the teams were announced.)

Also, I counted only 8 players with current streaks of 3 straight all-star appearances, and Kemba is one of them. (Obviously, that's not just about player value, but also health; e.g., Kawhi is not one of the 7.)

Survey says out of 175 infield appearance of Danny total 211 MLB appearances he played middle infielder 55% of time
CHL is allowed to change his name to "Toronto History Lesson" and Curmudgeon is still a Curmudgeon.
