Am I crazy for thinking Tyler's game resembles Ray Allen's? Not to say he will be of Ray Allen's caliber, but his style is very similar to Ray's.

He's good at working screens, he's got solid, consistent mechanics on his jumpshot, and pretty much makes his defenders work hard to defend him.

Maybe the resemblance to Ray Allen is what the Heat liked about him.

Ray Allen was more Athletic, and a much better scorer at the rim. Only thing Tyler is similar to Allen is that they both got big calfes, maybe that help with the shooting lol I would love to see Ray Allen mentor and train Tyler with his legendary work ethic...

Good to see Tyler Herro appreciation in here.
Two weeks ago, a lot of haters came out and even calling Pat Riley to step down because they dont like the pick.
Now what!?! ha ha ha

Without knowing Jimmy was keen to come here and with Langford/Sekou on the board, and based purely on what Herro showed at Kentucky is does look like a pick that was a safe pick. Yes there was the “he was playing a role at Kentucky” thought, but honestly Bam hasn’t fully shown all the things he was supposed to be able to do based on similar statements/anecdotes. It’s really only the Booker comparisons that had people in this board keeping him on the lotto bubble - if not for Booker, or if he was at almost any other school, he’d have been around 15-20 on everyone’s boards here.

Since then, we’ve seen more footage of him, we’ve picked up Jimmy (a star who needs a shooter/scorer next to him) and we’ve seen him in some summer league play. There’s some hope and he’s been pretty good with what he’s said about the team, etc so far. Let’s see how he goes through the rest of summer league and see how he handles his first bad game.

Summer League tends to do that. Which is why I like to remind everyone every year that Summer League is not NBA basketball.

You dont need to remind us, we are well aware of that.

Regardless its just a summer league, it gives us an idea what a player Tyler Herro is or might be.

I stand with Chalms, an asset can lose as much value as a lollipop on the floor after actually playing.

especially while we still owe Yimmy the same change that Kawhichael's set to play for

Or, I just seriously don't like the pick

Would love for Riley to give Ray Allen a gig in mentoring Tyler Herro

https://heavy.com/sports/2019/07/ray-allen-boston-celtics-dinner/

Allen is now proudly looking at the next generation of shooters after he left his mark as a premium NBA shooter.

Allen leaving the NBA ushered in everybody appears to be shooting at a higher clip.

His observation of it is fascinating.

“It’s crazy, because there’s so many great shooters,” Ray Allen told Scoop B Radio.

“I will say that as I left, shooting did drop, it seemed like it fell off a little bit. It was like three or four good shooters in the league, but now you see there’s a huge growth where a lot of teams have multiples and we’re talking about the BIG teams. You can’t shoot on this team if you can’t shoot threes. So what’s interesting is that now there’s a gap in the middle, and what’s gonna happen is, one of these kids in high school who’s gonna get really big and have really smooth moves is gonna be making baskets and making baskets that’s gonna dominate the game and flip it back over, he’ll dominate it for years. And then the game is going to have to adjust.”

We all know to take Summer League for what it is. Tim Duncan looked horrible in SL and finished fifth in MVP voting his rookie year. Trae Young also looked like trash last year.

But you can't pretend there isn't some correlation between rookie SL performance and future success, even if it's minor.

Gilgeous Alexander's play last year made me think he might have what it took to be a future star, and right now he looks to have the brightest future of the guys outside the top 5-6.

Basically, if Tyler was looking terrible, I'd be a little concerned but I wouldn't be trashing him.

But when your 19 year old rookie is averaging 20, 3.5, 3.5, and 2 through the first 3 games, it is encouraging.
