I would trade Payton and run with DSJ starting and Frank as back up though

If we do trade with them I could see it being for Bomba.
They don’t seem to be in love with him and even with the power forward haul we still only have one traditional center in Mitch. They have Vucci, Birch and Moz. Maybe they buy out Moz but they’re about to spend $100M on Vucci. I doubt they want to spend more on center. And they love Birch.
Honestly just keep Frank BUT if I’m Scott I need to have a conversation with my coach and the player and find out if they’re best for each other. I honestly think Frank has silently asked out making most of this moot.
If we trade him I think he ends up in Detroit for Thon Maker. We give them Dot, they send Khyri (the media has jokes) Thomas and a protected 1st.

So why give up on him at 20 when we're not gonna win next year anyways.
Last year, his shooting was brought down by one month of him shooting like 16% from 3, the rest of the time he was pretty decent
All he does is get that shot up to 36, 37 percent and he's a really good player. Y'all always talk like improving shooting is some Herculean task that nobody ever does, but it's one of the easiest things to improve at

I don't know, I don't dislike the idea of Payton, he's a legitimately good passer if nothing else, and he has chemistry with Randle. It's worth a shot off the bench, he's only 24. Feel like we need a pure point somewhere on the roster

on top of that if your looking at the best fit next to RJ...its him.
Feel like any time we say something like this, it has to have an asterisk next to it saying *if he gets his shooting consistent
thats a completely fair arguement to have. I guess I'm going to rely on my eyes and what I see in terms of fluidity of each's shooting form.
Payton is what he is. He's the best playmaker of the 3 and is at least a stable defensive player but he absolutely has zero outside shot where he doesn't even take them in games for the most part.
If we want the floor spaced for our biggest assets in terms of RJ driving, RJ and Mitch P&R, and Randle doing creating I want the guy I trust most off the ball in that case who can also defense.
That is Frank. DSJ shot is just all over the place...he lands differently every time and has a hitch and mostly needs the ball the be successful. RJ and Randle should be getting most of the creating in Fiz offensive at least I would hope.
Now don't get me wrong I wouldn't also be suggesting this if I didn't think DSJ had more value than Frank. If you could get a future 1st for Frank I would trade him...but I don't think we are...I'm all about maximizing our assets...moving him for a medial 2nd rounder does nothing except cleans up a bit of a log jam...but why would we care about that.

You got Payton playing with four of our guys with the highest upside and then you take pressure off Knox by bringing him off the bench as the 6th man. Portis also looks like a guy who can give you 12-8 off the bench, as an energizer.
teams would just play a zone vs us...not one of those guys is a realiable 3 point shooter and Payton and DSJ don't even take them consistently.
I think Frank would be better at SG or SF and really SF over SG but if we do trade him then i hope we go and get a PG that can shoot the ball like Q.Cook. Give him a vet min deal and now we have a PG that can actually shoot the ball. I like both E.Payton and DSJ for everything they do besides the shooting obviously and think Payton could end up being a nice piece for us because he plays defense and can run the offense, get assists and rebound better than DSJ but DSJ has the athleticism and flash over Payton.

frank seemingly didn't get better in any way in year 2 including defense. i think that's the biggest red flag.
which i don't disagree with but he was still our best pereimter defender with that step back...which shows you what we would be in for next season without him

well there is a big difference in terms of draft picks assets.
The magic have the lakers 2nd round pick...is that what you consider an asset?
Hellz no we don't want that pick that will most likely be in the late 20's and maybe even 30, unless it comes with another 2nd round pick that's actually the Magic's pick.

You do know once a guy leaves the Knicks they become these great additions.
They’d hail getting Frank like they got baby Giannis and we got Mo Bambi.
I heard somewhere Mudiay individually being added to the “great haul of a summer” conversation in Utah.

Payton is ok but he’s also on a one year deal. He has no future here at the end of the day. Think it would be smarter to try to develop Frank.

I doubt we'd be able to get Bamba for Frank. I would love that if it was possible, talk about a guy who can develop into a great backup for Money Mitch.
I'd imagine we'd have to throw a few second rounders with Frank to get that done and that's only if Orlando really doesn't believe in MO. He was the 6th pick just 1 season ago so I can't imagine they'd be ready to move off of him.
