The Bogdan Bogdanovic thread

Post#1 » by City of Trees » Fri Jul 5, 2019 5:20 pm

Just like our Buddy thread use this thread to discuss Bogi's career. Any topics involving Bogdanovic are welcome here.

So.... Bogi is coming off what some would consider a down year. Injured during international play Bogi was forced to sit while recovering from a small knee procedure. He would miss all of training camp and the first 12 games of the season. While out and unable to play an improved Buddy Hield surpassed Bogi on the depth chart.

After starting 53 games his rookie season Bogi found himself in a new role coming off the bench. We saw slight increases in assists, rebounds, steals, and turnovers. His biggest improvement was increasing his scoring output from 11.8 to 14.1. Where Bogi struggled was shooting % and shot selection. His %'s were down across the board but I think he can bounce back. He's healthy and should have a full summer to improve and work on his game.

Bogi's down year is really unfortunate for him (and possibly the Kings) because he is eligible for a contract extension starting July 13th.

Big question the Kings will need to answer is which Bogi is the real Bogi? Rookie or sophomore Bogi?

If either side is unhappy with the others demands we could see talks break off until next off season when Bogi becomes a RFA. Personally, I don't believe Bogi's extension is in the bag just yet.

I think much will depend on what role he is given. Last year he had to carry a lot of the scoring responsibility of a poor second unit, and that took its toll. He could be more of a sixth man maybe going forward, and should not have to have the ball in his hands as much with Joseph around. Maybe he lacks that change of pace of a Fox or Hield, but is a very sound fundamental player.

I think Bogi was wore down from playing NBA and then International ball with little rest. The late knee surgery threw him behind and then adjusting to a new role off the bench played with his confidence. He did things last year that were never seen his first year with us so he was probably pressing big time. I think he becomes a key contributor this year and understands what is expected from him and his role. Seems he gets along well with his teammates so building a true team and not just a bunch of individuals (Willie talking about you). Hopefully he gets an uptick across the board but especially in shooting percentages. I wish he wasn't going to play FIBA this year but what can you do.

Let's start the thread with spelling his name correctly

Joking aside, I am expecting him to have a good season: 14ppg with good efficiency, leading the second unit with playmaking. From what I see from highlights, Dedmon is very active after setting picks, so Bogi can create lots of easy baskets for him as he did for WCS.

Conditioning was the biggest problem with him in last two seasons. As the season progressed, he looked more and more tired. I haven't checked the stats but my eyes suggest, he finished the last quarter of the last two seasons with low efficiency. With such a great depth, we can also occasionally rest him so his legs would be fresh when it most matters.

The bench unit should be his. He and Joseph is a good amount of size in the backcourt which is a huge step up from last year. I'm not sure what you can expect from him stat wise but there's a lot of versatility with this roster.

His career avg's of 13/3/3/1 and 37% from deep is the bar for me.

I'd like to see less dribbling, better shot selection, and an improved fg%.

First year I thought he was too passive and didn't look to shoot enough. Second year I think everyone would agree he overdribbled and took bad shoots. With the newly added talent and hopefully better rotations we will see if his ball-hogging was a product of circumstances or just his nature.

I think he's one of the key players for us this coming season. If he solidifies his role as the sixth man and bench unit playmaker it raises our ceiling considerably.

I think it was just circumstances. Bogdan likes to assist. I'm expecting great year from him, because he is in last year of his contract and I think he will be given nice role in this team. And I hope that he will stay with Sacramento. (lot of history with serbian players there :) )

On the other side, he was one of the first that told he will be available to play for national team in world cup in China. If everything goes well, he will have couple of weeks to rest and be ready to start NBA season. He is entering the peak basketball years.

Guy on my avatar will be great next season, mark my words. ;)

He is a combo guard. He is very much mismatched on the defensive side of the ball against 3s.

Yep! Really wish he would take the summer off and work on his body and shot (regain).

On a slightly random note. I’ve seen Bogdan clubbing twice already. Last year at the LowBrau in downtown Sacramento and in the Cromwell (Drai’s night club) at Las Vegas last week. Last year at LowBrau he was taking pictures with people and he was nice from what I’ve seen. Last week, he had two hot chicks with him at the VIP area lol

At the same night club, Wiz Khalifa performed. LeBron James, Floyd Mayweather, Meek Mill made an appearance as well.

Ok. That was something I wanted to get out off my chest lol

I think that he is untouchable so he shouldn't be involved in any trade talks on this board

Any reason why you think that?

Divac watched him in Partizan , Fenerbahce and serbian NT so he values him higher than the rest of the NBA GM's and offer for him would need to be really good to accept it.

Lol nice. I remember seeing Jason Thompson & Derrick Williams at the mix awhile back. Bottle service just them and a few chicks. Also had seen Tyreke out a few times at Parlare.

My favorite was 4th of July a while ago, I was at Thunder Valley with some guys at the 20$ black jack table. I look to my left and Carl Landry is sitting at a table all by himself looking depressed as hell. He was coming off an injury, my brother and I went over told him we hope he recovers and helps get the Kings to the playoffs starting at the 4. He didn't seem too happy we talked to him lol.

Bogdan could make the most of the role as the main field player like Gary Harris..
