This might be a dumb question, but if Kawhi chooses the Lakers could the Pelicans still nuke the Davis deal out of spite?

And KD announced his decision on the 4th, we're talking a 1-2 day difference if Kawhi announces today or tomorrow.
Woj broke KD to the Nets on Sunday. Of course Kawhi can do it on his own schedule. I don't believe for a second that Kawhi is being swayed by any meetings. He knew the pros and cons of each since the AD trade 3 weeks ago. As "private" as he acts I think he's enjoying the attention. Nothing wrong with it, I just don't like it.
I'm sort of on board here, there is no way these meetings did anything. His mind has been made up. What else could they have said? He's waiting for no reason other than tons of attention now. He can if he wants to, idc
Or he’s waiting to see which one of the LA teams get impatient so his decision becomes LA the city or a return to Toronto.
The Lakers and Clippers have the cap space, but not a lot of dudes left in FA worth spreading that over. That list gets even smaller each day nothing happens with Kawhi. One of those teams could get a sense they aren’t the choice and help Kawhi make his decision for him.

It would be awesome if he just didn’t pick and remained silent on the issue as if nothing happened.

Re: ATL: Free Agency
Some horrible takes on Kawhi here.
Of course these meetings are important, the Lakers/Raptors/Clippers are offering to move mountains for him with perk packages and incentives worth tens of millions. The right move and he can win another couple titles and get GOAT talk, go out like MJ owning a franchise and joining the 3 comma club. The stakes are huge, let the man take a few days to think it over.

Tell Kawhi that he shouldn’t ruin the competitive balance and that it would be bad for the league if he went to the Lakers.
If you don’t think that would carry some weight you are crazy.

Re: ATL: Free Agency
I guess technically they could. Theyd be stupid as hell to do it though as not only would that destroy any reputation the front office has around the league but nobody is topping the offer they gotkid idioteque wrote:This might be a dumb question, but if Kawhi chooses the Lakers could the Pelicans still nuke the Davis deal out of spite?

So you want the leagues commissioner actively trying to maneuver which teams players play for?Nowak008 wrote:RRyder823 wrote:What exactly do you think Silver can do?Nowak008 wrote:I really hope for the sake of the league Kawhi goes to the Clips or to Toronto.

WTF? That's not a good thing or in any way shape or form what a commissioner should be doing

Re: ATL: Free Agency
The moratorium hasn't even ended yet and Kawhi of all people is getting called a diva
How did we deal with Lebron not telling us he's going back to Cleveland until July 10th?

I didn't have a problem with LeBron's Decision and I don't have a problem with what Kawhi is doing. I'm sure he knows where he's going to sign but let the man enjoy being the center of attention and get wined and dined for as long as he wants. He earned that by being as good as he is.

Re: ATL: Free Agency
It is annoying that Kawhi is taking his time, but I can only imagine how Lakers, Clippers and Raptors fans feel. Especially with reports of there being a 99% chance Kawhi signs with the Lakers one day and a 99% chance he re-signs with the Raptors the next day.

It has been fun to visit both the Lakers and the Raptors boards lately, and once the decision is made it’ll be even more fun.

Dwight Howard was probably a better player than he will be remembered as. But is absolutely on my list of all time underachievers.
