Good signing for $3M a year.
Low usage backup center who's signing would guarantee that we wont be pushed around in certain situations.
He's not a starter so relax. Great deal.

Boban is essentially replacing Salah Mejiri. His spot, probably a bit more minutes than Salah.
So when you put it that way, he's an upgrade.

Solid signing. Makes sense to have a lane filling backup center.

Re: Boban Marjanović
Not a bad idea to have somebody to block shots from Zion like Tacko does in college. As far as the offseason go, TO and controlling tempo could be an issue. The speed in open court is rather slow. Against press defense, the effectiveness on both end of the floor can impact the winning percentage a lot for the Mavs. Attempting too much 3 like last season could be problematic if there's technically no shot blocker able to come back to defend the paint.

Heh, Boban is one of the best players in the league according to advanced stats. Seriously, he's great in short spurts, virtually unstoppable, at below the MLE and two years, this is the kind of deal I wanted to see the Mavs making. If nothing else, it's a very tradeable contract. An asset.

As the offseason goes by, I'm growing to belief that the Mavs plans to left the 4 and 1 spot opened. There could be not steady starting lineup every game. Not sure how Rick handles it, though. We all know RC wants set rotation. Just sub someone in at 6 mins of 1st quarter or so. It's a big test to the talent of RC as well.

Re: Boban Marjanović
I was so wanting them to do this.
He will be a great change of pace guy when we need to shock the other team and change momentum or shut down the middle and protect the rim from anyone trying to dunk or drive inside.
The perimeter defense of DFS, Green and Doncic would then be something that needs to play with KP and Boban.
Green you put on the PG and whoever is the second best threat you just stick DFS on him and Doncic is the guy who you put on the weakest link. That leaves the other team facing a center and PF combo that towers over their guys and in that kind of match up you are forcing the other team to go small and when that happens all you need to do is dunk it with Boban and KP posting the other teams midget ball line up and getting scored on every trip down the court.
I can see this as the perfect way to dominate in clutch games. When you need a 3 Green or KP can get that for you and Doncic can find the open guy so there is no way to not get off an open 3. KP can defend at a higher level so he and DFS will mask the deficiency on defense that Boban suffers with. Heck if we can mask Dirks bad defense then they should be used to doing that sort of thing.

Good sign. Good locker room guy who can give you some quality minutes as a backup.

This team will be fun to watch this next season.
Can't help but laugh at some of the stuff he does.

We will have a lot more fun this season that's already for sure. Luka dishing to KP, Dwight and Boban inside with the likes of Curry rifling from deep should at the very least be fun to watch.

I really like the lineup with Boban in Zinger in clutch. That means technically no team can guard these frontcourt duo. It creates space everywhere on court. Opposing team can only try to deny the ball to Luka. The Mavs still need an uptempo PG. Maybe Yogi if the option is not taken.

Don't anyone find Bohan and smurf alike? Interest personality. I think Boban could be fan favorite in Dallas. The second unit could be stronger even if Powell is promoted to starting lineup.

With him out there we need to field a defensive team to hide his deficiency and then he becomes the one that you feed the ball to inside. He is a great passing center because he can see over all the other centers so I guess he should be. Lets look at all the center capable players we have on the team. Powell, Kleber, KP, Boban and even Kostas can play it when he fills out a bit more. Roby as a small ball type is another posibility. Why not play a 3 center lineup with Roby, DFS, Ryan or Jackson at the 2, Luka at the 1. KP at PF, Powell, Kosta, or Kleber at SF, and Boban the center. What if that actually worked? Triple towers plus bigger than everyone else at every position.

Boban wont get to play major minutes. He will essentially take on Salah Mejiri's role. Carlisle wont fix a whole defensive scheme for Salah Mejiri so Im guessing he wont do the same for Boban.

Not bad I guess. I wanted Cauley-Stein though.

WCS doesn't really give the Mavs anything that they don't already have though. Like sure, he's a little taller and little more athletic than Powell, but he's not as good as a defender (although the potential is there for sure).
Boban is a thick bodied C that the Mavs needed. However, if the Mavs wanted someone thick, then I would have liked Jonas Valanciunas. He's younger and quicker than Boban, but he would have cost more money.
However, the Mavs had that money to spend.
