Where are they now?

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Wed Jul 3, 2019 4:43 am

Stole this idea from a Scott Agness tweet (@ScottAgness). He listed landing spots for all the Pacers free agents. Figured id post it in a thread here if anyone wanted to discuss any of these because i've seen few different threads have these listed. Thought having them in one thread would be the way to go.

Bojan Bogdanovic - Utah Jazz
Thad Young - Chicago Bulls
Cory Joseph - Sacramento Kings
Wes Matthews - Milwaukee Bucks
Kyle O'Quinn - Philadelphia 76ers
Darren Collison - retirement
Tyreke Evans - suspended

Glenn Robinson III - Golden State Warriors

Bojan 4/$73m
Thad 3/$41m
Cory 3/$37
Wes vet min
KOQ vet min
GR3 vet min

Wes and Kyle are bargains for sure. Bojan and Thad's numbers seem reasonable. Kind of meh on GR3, even on a small contract. CoJo is good but probably not worth that. I've heard that CoJo's last year is partially guaranteed, not sure about the others.

Georges Niang - Utah Jazz

That’s right, he’s still in the league.

They weren’t great when they were here. But they are both going to have 10 year NBA careers. When picking in the 20s if you find guys that will play for 10 years you ain’t doing near as bad as you think they are.

Honestly, I’m not sure that Solo is going to be kept anywhere this year and he just finished his 6th season. His contract runs this year but he seems a pure buyout/salary filler.

Talk about turning one hot month of play into a big money 4 year contract. Yikes. One of the ultimate warnings of overpaying on “potential”.

Agree on overpaying. In fairness to him he has dealt with some injuries in that NO contract but you are correct. He should get bought out but I expect him to catch on somewhere.

I don't know about the bold. AT HIS BEST, in New Orleans, when healthy over the last 3 years, his best months have been around 38/35/80 kind of shooting with ok, but not great defense. He's essentially a smaller, older version of RHJ. Solo might get some camp invites, and maybe a year of a vet minimum, but I think he's got to prove an awful lot, that he never really has in his career so far, that he can be a better player just to be back at NBA level. It's not his fault he got that contract, though, and good for him.

I'll tell you where he's gonna catch on after he gets bought out!

That guy wasn't any good before he got hurt! He was a pretty good defender but a scrub on offense. Glad we didn't give him that stupid contract.

CJ Miles just got traded from Memphis to Washington for the rights to Dwight Howard before they buy him out.

And people call KD a snake. This dude requests a trade twice in three years?

I think he really wanted to go to the Clippers, what a massive haul for the Thunder almost makes up for losing Vic and Dom!

To be fair, his heart has always been in LA. In previous free agency he just didn't have the balls big enough to upset more people/fans.

But the heart always wins. I'm happy for him, the Thunder weren't going anywhere with PG and Westbrook.

Kawhi's long doubts did more damage to teams IMO Toronto didn't get any value in return and Lakers missed opportunities to sign better players than what's on the market now.

OKC and Indiana got good value in return. Free agents walk away for nothing.

Kawhi Leonard Clippers

Would be funny if those 2 win a ring.

We drafted them both and had the opportunity to make something of it.

Luckily they have learned from it and have drafted the BPA this year and didn't trade him for the position of need, point guard.

Return to Indiana Pacers
