Presti deserves a lot of credit here. It sounds like he got Toronto into the bidding, which is likely why the price was so high.

He's going through a lot of internal growth and development this off-season.

Sounds like Presti got pretty gangsta on them. Played the Raps off the Clips. Good work, son.

This is why I'm so torn on sam. It's like he's this diabolical genius at times that morphs into Ernie Grunfeld after he's shocked the world.

LeBron getting kawhi a fmvp and offseason-mvp is kinda hilarious.

Oh boy, just realized we're going to inevitably get some knob in the media talking about how much the League is going to love having L.A. be the center of the NBA universe again. My money's on Colin Cowherd, that sounds about like his style.

Let's swap out Russ to a contender now and really get the rebuild in full gear, Kuzma and a bunch of draft picks? The rebuild has to happen and Russ deserves as much goodwill as we can give him.

I think he's between worlds. Acquiring talent and assets is something he's REALLY good at, but putting the finishing touches around those assets and making sure they fit together is a problem. He's been much better when not trying to walk that 'sustainability vs winning' line.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
The Thunder as we know them are done
Had Presti been able to strike a deal for George with the Raptors -- and Leonard was willing to stay -- George was believed to be willing to join the Raptors too, sources said. Presti pursued a package of Russell Westbrook with George to the Raptors -- with the NBA's Most Improved Player, forward Pascal Siakam as the centerpiece of a deal -- and Ujiri balked, league sources said. Ujiri had delivered Leonard everything that he wanted in a franchise: Leadership and trust, championship talent and a medical partnership that preserved and prepared his body. What Ujiri couldn't give Leonard was out of his control: Geography, weather, and a chance to return to his Southern California roots.
"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said

Not to dump on Presti but let's not get too excited. He was playing with a full house from the sound of it. That hasn't been the case in awhile around here.

Wish we knew what kind of package the Raptors started offering. No way Pascal was part of it.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
Huge move by both the Clippers and OKC. I respect it for both teams.
Clippers got two of the best in the game. Will it be enough? Only time will tell but I like that they took their chance.
OKC really did well. I'm not a huge later draft pick guy but George asked out so OKC was not dealing from strengths. If healthy Gallo and SGA will replace a lot of PG's production. To get 5 first round picks PLUS two swaps on top of that is a legit haul.
I think Clips fans should be happy although I do predict they will not even win 12 more games than last seasons 48.
I think OKC fans should be happy. They can put a playoff team together now and in the future.
I feel bad for Toronto fans.
AD got played. He gave up his trade kicker for nothing.

My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point.

I've always been a solid fan of Sam, People focus on his draft picks early in his thunder run but I honestly feel what make him a great GM is his ability to limit the damage after catastrophic unforeseeable events hit us like Harden, Kev and now George trying to get out. I'll include the Tyson Chandler foot disaster in that category as well.

Woah. Presti was discussing trading Russ and pg both to Toronto. No question Russ is available then.

Anyone know if SGA was slated to be at Summer League for the Clips? I presume he won't make an appearance beyond the bench for us.

But you play the cards you're dealt, and he got them to keep adding to the pot.

Did they ask Russ' permission to trade him there before offering that or nah?
