Westbrook is a salary dump at this point, not much different than CP3, but I’d be here for it..cap space for the Knicks is meaningless anyway..the cost to acquire him should be low..

a lot of bad teams can play near .500 ball for a month or two and the east is terrible. the knicks got a bunch of shooting now and have a fast break team. there are so many wings that to play you're gonna have to hit shots or you're getting pulled. they'll start off the season decent. we did the 2 years before last year too.

I can't wait to read Taj's proposed trades.

Last night he was arguing with me about trading Frank for Dwight Howard when Howard is getting waived. Show me what you got.

Daryl Morey probably thought he was going to be lifting the championship trophy at the end of the next season.

They'd have to give us unprotected picks. Westbrook has several years left and while I personally like his motor, that salary is terrible. They're clearly going the tanking route now in OKC.

They'd have to attach several assets for the Knicks to consider it.

Acquiring Westbrook would set the Knicks further back than what they already are as a franchise.

Westbrook and the NY media is a match made in hell.

Imagine NY Basketball having Russ, KD, Kyrie lmao

Three biggest anti-media guys. Russ is nice but his playstyle makes people not want to come and play with him.

fair enough...but assuming this logic...someone gets fired right if that is indeed the case? We built flexibility but they signed a bunch of vets to show progress and win...if we win less that 30 games (thats my over/under) someone gotta take the fall or are we going to sell we improved from 17 wins

The only difference between Perry and Phil is Perry isn't signing guys for 4 years

Tell me I'm wrong

That's a major difference.

Is it really though?

We're still gonna be playing vets over youth to get to 30 wins instead of developing and letting the team win however many games the kids are good enough to win

Then trying to sell stars on the idea of coming to a 30 win team (which isn't really a 30 win team cause the guys that won 30 games are paid too much to be role players when we sign real guys) instead of relying on internal development

Like, seriously look at Brooklyn. Bad contracts for picks, good scouting, developing home grown talent, and they're the ones that ended up with KD and Kyrie, not us. Meanwhile we're going out and signing vets to overpriced contracts, and not old vets that have no problem sitting on the bench the entire year, middle age vets that want playing time so they can get their next big contract, or not taking fliers on really young guys who just want to prove themselves

They sure would love the Westbrook-Durant angle though.

Right? I didn't even think of that.

I don't want to go through that as a fan personally. So distracting.

All of them can get shipped out or declined if AD leaves the Lakers next year, man.

they do though. it was obvious they wanted shooting with free agency. knox, portis, trier, bullock, ellington. randle will probably improve more. he went from 22.2 to 34.4 in 1 year. he'll shoot slightly better than league average next year.

Is Russell really declining that much? Didn't he just average a triple double again (nearly 11 assists and over 11 rebounds per game at 43% shooting?)

I don't like that contract at all but some are making him out to be a shell of his former self. The guy keeps racking up triple double seasons ffs. He's always been one of my favorite players just because he plays so hard but given his age and that contract it's a hard pass unless they attached several picks with it.
