Would have been bad for The NBA.

Clippers really mortgaged their future here with sending all those picks.

yeah, all those picks plus SGA. i mean, that is a lot of picks.

reminds me of the Dallas-Herschel Walker trade.

Same.

I think it was a huge price to pay and maybe too big of one.

OKC will be fine with that haul. SGA has proven himself and they needed to rebuild anyway.

Clippers might be my 2nd favorite team now aside from Doc Rivers. I’m glad they prevented Lakers from landing Kawhi by swinging for PG. Games should be really fun now out here in LA.

They stockpiled those picks for this exact reason, it wasn't to use them, it was to trade for a star and if the biggest star in the game tells you "I'll sign with you if you go get this guy", that's when you use all those picks

Plus, people are ignoring the fact that PG13 was one of the top 5 players in the league for most of last season and was talked about as a MVP and DPOY candidate, so it's not like they made this trade for some scrub who happen to be friends with Kawhi (like how the Lakers keep giving KCP money cause he's LeBron's friend), he's a legit star on his own

But, if I told you yesterday that you can get Kawhi Leonard and PG 13 for SGA and 5 1st (2 of which are from the heat), you tell me you're saying no?

Clippers made the move that needed to be made

I think some of those picks were extra's from the Griffin/CP3 trades? They still might have a 1st in some of those years, I'm too lazy to check carefully when it's not for ORL.

I think it'll be a huge price to pay in that later half of the decade, but only in the sense that all those picks still netted LAC at least one title some years earlier in the early 2020's.

For me personally, I just don't see how LAC isn't the title favorite with their roster right now. Names like Pat Bev, Lou Will, Montrezl, Ivica, Shamet, McGruder, Harkless, their two new draft picks; wing Mann, center Kabengele, their MLE still open right now, and their LAC 2020 1st still owned by LAC I believe. All to go with Kawhi and PG.

essentially by leonard staying quiet and waiting for the clippers to make the trade they screwed over the lakers by default because now there is no one left to poach.....i mean i guess you have Dwight with the injured azz.....

Yeah and we all know who ended up winning that trade. It is a bit much but gotta do what you gotta do if Kawhis asking for it I guess.

You make that trade 10/10 times if it means you are considered a favorite to win it all. Those picks could become nothing. PG and Kawhi are two of the best players in the league.

Clippers didn’t just trade for PG. They basically made that trade for PG AND Kawhi...because he wouldn’t go to Lakers without PG. People saying they overpaid are insane.

That would be recipe for failure for wiggins. Having to "replace" kawhi after he just won them a finals championship, theres really nothing wiggins can do, short of winning another finals, without looking like a failure

I mean i guess Wiggins might get a little bit of leeway because of the canada connection, but if he doesnt win, it wont last

And if he doesn’t win, you’re stuck with his huge contract. I would say he has the worst contract in the league right now.

I disagree. Think Kawhi winning them an unexpected championship combined with the fact Wiggins is a prodigal son gives him a ton of leeway. Plus with all the Toronto kids coming in the league with legit star potential SGA, Murray, Barrett etc he could get one of them to join him down the line. DeRozen is the reason they couldn't win and he is still beloved there. Imagine a kid from Toronto.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

Hoarding cap space and draft picks, while trying your darn hardest to have a very good team in the meantime like LAC did, worked. LAC did it with 1 rookie scaled player, and some contracts around 8-13 mil to good players. Ross is a 13 mil contract to a good player.

Except you put Kawhli (best player in the league) on your team and you are an instant contender. They add a top player to go along with Kawhi. They win it next year and it's easily worth it.

I think I agree with the masses here. Very glad Kawhi went to the Clippers and not the Lakers. I think the Lakers biggest rival being in the same building will be good for the league. I think Kawhi selling his soul to be LeBrons errand runner would have been awful. It’s great seeing guys like Kawhi and Durant passing LBJ on the pecking order. That supernova ego of LA and Lebron took a hit today and I love it. This has been the off-season for the ages, and with Westbrook’s situation spinning off as a result it still isn’t over.
You look confused...let me fill you in.
