This dialogue from Cuban is well known though. It has alot to do with why top players dont go there.

He's not much different than Donald Sterling and has essentially admitted so, which was why he stated his "slippery slope" comment.

If we were giving up 3 unprotected picks, we could get a better player. Russ is not even that good anymore and he's paid a fortune. This trade is a major loss for us.

They picked up D'Angello Russell and Willie Cauley Stein

Their bench is still buns but their starting 5 is still solid

They traded for D’Angelo Russell too. If they don’t like the fit when Klay gets back, they should be able to move him for other pieces pretty easily (assuming his play doesn’t fall off a cliff this year).
