True. I think he was saying it’s the combination of KP + New York, though.

I’m not taking any of it as gospel. The lesson from this FA (well one of them) is you can’t take these talking heads too seriously.

But yet you still brought it up out of nowhere so you're clearly trying to show that the Knicks messed up with the KP trade which i'm pretty sure 98% of us are over and good with the KP trade. Just sayin.

WTH are you talking about?

I said the Knicks messed up before the KP deal and I have repeatedly said they did about as well as they could despite the crappy KP situation.

My exact words were you CANT take the things these talking heads say as gospel

This is a huge reach.

Absolutely,Russell westbrook in the eastern conference is totally different player. I beleive he could do what kawhi did.

He couldn't do it with K.Durant, J.Harden or P.George. Russ is not a player that other players love playing with and if you don't have chemistry then you aren't getting anywhere but to the playoffs.
Funny how I hear the same about lebron, but it's worked a few times. Not comparing russ w lebron but u get what I'm saying.

Yeah that's a really bad comparison. Lebron has that it factor and makes everyone else around him better when he's on the court. His BBIQ is off the charts. Dam it i hate Lebron.

You were doing so well and then you added Steph and Klay. I love the Kawhi and PG combo and think they're gonna be great players who play both sides of the ball but Steph and Klay already have that something special thing and it's been working for years.

So you’d rather have Westbrook than Devin booker or Beal or oladipo. All guys under 27.

Bookers defense isn’t amazing but a ridiculously talented scorer who is only 23-24 years old.

You add booker and in 2021 when the free agent class opens up you go recruiting with booker Barrett and Mitch.

Obviously looking far ahead is pointless but If you can lure a Giannis or oladipo or Beal in 2021

Cole Anthony/Booker/Barrett /Giannis / Mitch

Oladipo/ booker / Barrett /randle / Mitch

Keep the cap, the picks , the youth open and flexible to add people that fit the timeline. Not on people like westbrook

If I'm maxing a guy both offense AND defense need to be elite (near elite). Westbrook is that kind of player and oh yeah he rebounds and passes too.

Hes the best 'possibly' available player right now. Even better than Harden who doesn't play defense.

How long you think he'll last, his raw athleticism is what makes him elite. He's on the other side of 30

LeBron is 35. I'd say 4 years.

Its a good example of why you can never have too many picks or assets. In a blink of an eye they can all be traded. The Knicks could def use all the future picks or young players they can get

I hear u, but I'm just a lil weary. Now dont get me wrong. If we were to somehow get russ I'd be ecstatic. I'm a huge russ fan. Nothing would make smile more than seeing him throw it down on KD at the Barclay's and walk over him. Sorry I started day dreaming.

Westbrook would be a move about selling tickets and not about building towards a championship. He’s bring a ton of energy and excitement like Melo did but it’s shallow. He’s probably going to Miami, anyway.

Asides from his salary. He’s still a top 10 player. If they want to deal him for just DSJr + 1 draft pick you do it.

Is there anyway we can ban out of our deal is still the period where FA deals aren’t official yet?

I really think building trade capital is the way to go. In free agency, stars are fickle. In trades, guys get grumpy all the time. If you have the right assets you can always make that move.

The math doesn't work. Russell is making around 37 million this year so you'd have to match salaries.

I wouldn't give DSJ or any picks for him. He's going to average around 42 million dollars for the next 4 years. If they wanted to dump Gibson, Portis and Bullock to match salaries I guess that would be ok but OKC would have to give a bunch of draft picks attached with Westbrook.

I actually like RW, he plays with such a high motor but given his age and how many years he has left on that contract he'd be better off going somewhere where he can contend right away. Won't be happening in NY.

As if the Knicks' rep around the league isn't bad enough. You want to start pulling deals from FAs now?

And people think the team culture is toxic already. Pulling a contract would probably have the league land on them, and the Player's Association would have something to say, too.

This. Pull a reverse Deandre Jordan and you’ll never get another meeting with a free agent of note again. On the other hand, we canceled our meeting with Kawhi this summer so perhaps that’s not the Knick’s cup of tea anyway.
