It’s more than I was hoping to pay him, but I like him and I think the last 2 years of the contract are gonna be better than the first 2.

Love that it's 4 years! If he pans out, this could be a big bargain contract He had some promising moments w/ the Clippers, and his hand was injured the whole time. Excited to see what he can do with a healed hand.

Agree with Madmax.
Gotta feeling years 3 and 4 are gonna be a bargain.
A rising tide lifts all boats and I think his boat is going to be lifted by everything we have to offer this summer.

zubac's overall game reminds me of someone like Vlade Divac or even our old pal Chris Kaman. a capable rim defending big with decent midrange game who can do little bit of everything but a master of none, type of a player. I think he can be a good role player for a team like ours. hope he can refine his shooting and get tougher as a defender going forward.
ehhhhh f it.

He's alright during the grind of the season. But in the playoffs, he's not going to play as much.
Good for him to get a big deal. Now that SGA is gone, still need a PG, to set up Zubac for easy baskets?

I expect this whole team to share and move the ball.
I expect Zub to get fed his dunks from Pat, Lou, Kawhi, George, etc. etc.

That is what every fan base say until mid way through the season.
To get through the 82 game regular season, you need facilitators other then your stars.
Got to keep you stars comfortably rested in addition to getting that high seed home court advantage.

Clippers are going to own the Lakers. Zub is a beast, good signing as he is only going to get better.
My new fav team in the West now that Kawhi is there. I am one of the few Raptors fans that ain’t mad with his decision. We all knew he wanted to be in LA.

All depends on his development and matchups. I still think Doc should of kept him involved off the bench in that warriors series

Idk about that. He was about as useless as one can be during that series lolTheNewEra wrote:wco81 wrote:He's alright during the grind of the season. But in the playoffs, he's not going to play as much.

Scored 18 against their bench. Inexperienced of course but completely removed from rotation no and this was the best overall team at top form. I don’t put much stock in Doc’s rotations to believe nothing could be done but there was little hope left when the Warriors turned it up.
He’s paid and can now focus on improving in his starter role.

Re: Clippers Re-Sign Ivica Zubac to 4 Year, $28M Deal
One thing I've been thinking, in case things don't go as well as planned... The sum of Zubac + Jerome + Harkless' salaries is enough in a trade for a guy like Steven Adamas, Marc Gasol or Ibaka, who depending on their team's direction, could maybe be on the market by the trade deadline. Hopefully Zu is good enough so that this doesn't need to be a thought, but it's a good way to open a new avenue.
And just like with Beverley and McGruder, since we had his bird rights and were going over the cap anyway, I really hope they gave him a frontloaded deal. It may help with the luxury tax down the line, or at the very least with his trade value.

I don't think the CBA allows front-loaded salaries like the NFL.
It lets them choose up to a max salary given years of experience and then specific increases every year.
At least I haven't heard of teams front-loading. What they might do is that the last year of a deal wouldn't be fully guaranteed.
But players in demand get fully guaranteed deals, not partially guaranteed ones.
