I hope he starts from day one, which means i hope Wiggins is gone by the start of the season.

I think it's more likely he starts over Okogie at SG than Wiggins at SF.

If we keep Okogie, Culver, and RoCo while moving Wiggins ... none of them three are ball dominant and play defense - making a guy like Russell a great fit IMO. Find a way to move Teague, Dieng, and Wiggins + future picks in exchange for Russell and fillers.

jpatrick wrote:I’m starting to come around on Culver. I just had visions of Evan Turner floating in my head, which I still think is a possibility if Culver doesn’t improve his three point percentage to league average on volume. But I think he will.

I do think it’s important to pair him with a PG that can play off the ball and shoot, allowing Culver to initiate semi-regularly. You know, someone like Dlo.

This is the bingo. I agree with Mike Schmitz when he says that he can see Culver initiating "the majority of a team's offense". He is sooooo freaking good with the ball in his hands setting things up off the bounce. D-Lo would be PERFECT next to Culver, they would be co-initiators with D-Lo being the shooter opposite Culver. And not that we can depend on him being a legit player, but Jaylen Nowell fits perfectly next to Culver as well because of this dynamic. Nowell shot 45% from deep last year and played both 2 guard and PG at times, and is comfortable initiating things.

Imagine this opposite Culver (below). The first 2/3 of the vid focuses on driving and finishing, then 3 catch and shoot, the last 3rd focuses on passing and vision. Niiiiice... I'm more excited about this year's round 2 pick than last year's (KBD)...

OIC. I really think RoCo will be our primary PF.

If the Wolves land Russell, why would they have wanted Garland instead of Culver? . I know it's a pretty big IF, but if they do would be a terrific 4D chess move.

And Culver is not slouch, his shooting is a work in progress, but give a read at this:

I see a lot of similarities to Caris Levert in Culver, and that is a d@mn good thing IMO. It's almost uncanny their style of play, their size is close, how they operate offensively. Going forward, Levert is going to average 4 or more assists, maybe more. He'll pull down 4 boards and give you 15 a game. Levert's career average from 3 pt land is 33%, which is respectable. I think it would be a fair and safe assumption that after year 1, beginning in year 2, that he averages similar numbers to LeVert (15 / 4 / 4). That being said, I think his ceiling is higher than that even, but those stats are a fair estimate IMO. Add to that, that he's going to be a better defender than LeVert as well. Reeeaaaallly lookiing forward to getting a glimpse of him in SL!!! 8-) 8-)

Watch these highlights of LeVert and you'll be thinking you're watching Culver.

Dont know if it was mentioned already.

He’s an elite perimeter defender [..] He makes up for any lack of athleticism with long arms, a high motor, and a great understanding of positional defense. Culver always seems to be in the right place at the right time; he has one of the highest combinations of steal rate (2.7 percent) and block rate (2.1 percent) of any perimeter player in this year’s draft.

I have no doubt that Culver will be a plus defender from the day one. I hope we can incorporate him in team offense by running PnRs with him as ballhandler and KAT. Jarrett wont be able to create high percentage shots in ISOs, but I can definetely see how he can be successfull in PnRs. Once we move forward from two bigmen lineup KAT-Culver PnR can be lethal weapon given Karl scoring ability and Culver high IQ, passing and slashing ability. If Layman, RoCo, KBD, Okogie, Wiggins, Nowell, Tyus can stretch defense enough to give Culver those space to operate, then it might work well for us.

The more I think about comparisons, the player Culver most reminds me of coming out of college is Demar Derozan.
Similar length, athleticism, and ballhandling, and both struggled with their outside shot.

Culver has an ugly hitch in his jumper that needs to be fixed, but can be corrected. Adding strength will help. It looks like he doesnt trust his wrist enough, and that leads to his shot taking too long and using too much elbow. Zach Lavine had an ugly shot in college too and adding strength and an NBA shooting coach really helped him.

Really stoked to see how Culver and Nowell do because our backcourt was awful post Jimmy trade.

The more I think about it, we did an amazing job trading into the top 6 to get a player this talented without giving up any future draft capital. The worst place to be in the NBA is out of the playoffs drafting late in the lottery, and we made lemons out of lemonade.

That's because the trade didn't go through until today
