Unless the Grizzlies are willing to take on additional money, I don't see how they hope to find a deal for Iguodola when they got a pick to take him on in the first place.

Could it be Tolliver S&T for Layman S&T so both keep their exceptions?
Nope.
Whiteside and Bazemore are better defenders than the guys they were traded for.Eskobar13 wrote:Andre Roberstan wrote:Kilo wrote:Layman to Minnesota 3 yrs 11.5M via S&T deal with Portland.

Wth am I missing here?
Layman last year was probably already a better player than Tolliver. 3/11.5M is absolutely nothing. Is it because of the shooting?
Man feels like Blazers defense has everything to turn right back to bottom 10 next year. Offense should be top-10 probably top-5 I guess.
Whiteside is not a better defender than Nurkic though. Remains to be seen what level he is going to play at but I very much doubt he can anchor the defense like Nurk.jbk1234 wrote:Whiteside and Bazemore are better defenders than the guys they were traded for.Eskobar13 wrote:

Different situations. Memphis has more leverage than GS who had to dump Iggy. The value you get in a trade has more to it than the "actual" value of the player. It's all context-specific.

Leverage isn’t the only difference. The Warriors got free cap space in the trade, an asset the Grizzlies won’t be seeking. They can seek something else.
No idea what they can get, but it’s no harm looking.

Exactly and that's partially what I meant by leverage. GS has no leverage because they needed the trade to be a salary dump.
Snakebites wrote:Ah. Well, to me leverage implies strength of bargaining position. Which is certainly a factor here.
I guess my point was it’s disingenuous to say the Warriors packaged a pick to get rid of him. They packaged a pick to free up money. That free money was an asset.
The Grizzlies don’t need to free up money, they can do a cap neutral deal or even take on money and get some other asset off of it.

I think you guys finally cornered the market unless TJ Ford comes out of retirement.
