Davis Bertans "the Latvian Laser"

I don't know much about him. His numbers look great except for the rebounding. His on/off numbers are exceptional. And that's over 1500+ minutes. (The first chart is per 100 possessions)

He's a very good shooter and likely our starting 4 now. I'm not mad! His contract is expiring (7M) too.

The power of spacing! I doubt he is a worse defender then Jabari... definitely a better floor spacer. Stop gap S4. Gonna need everyone to help gang rebound on the defensive glass.

I thought this read "Latvian Loser" but this guy can really shoot it. Not a lot else but he's better than Wagner at the moment. Also 26 and another expiring. Again, maybe they can trade later for a 2nd rounder if a team needs a S4/5

I'm guessing Jabari Parker is now ruled out. We just don't have the roster space.

I always liked Bertans, he’s relatively athletic with great shooting touch.

If he plays well he would have value at the deadline. Hopefully we can get a 2nd out of him later on

A nice stopgap starter at power forward for us. The things he's good at, he's really good at and he's both professional and a solid motor guy (being a Spur). I was more pleased before I saw the $7 million, but he should be getting a lot of minutes here and will make things easier on the development pieces.

I'm torn. It looks like a good use of assets - getting a legit NBA player for nothing, but I'm not sure what the point is of adding an expiring contract guy.

I'd rather have Jabari on a 2-year or 2+1 deal. That way, if he proves valuable, he is an asset to trade or cheap talent going forward.

I guess. Hard to keep track of this roster. Still awful but
PG Ish Smith, Thomas, J. Robinson, Bonga, Wall (inj.),
SG Beal, McRae, J, Jones, Matthews (2-way)
SF Miles, Brown, Admiral, Simmons (?)
PF Rui, Bertrans
C Bryant, Wagner, Mahinmi

I have 18 so they need to get rid of 3. Assume Simmons is gone, Jones might not make it or one of the G-League guys. and well Mahimi might get stretched but you need more than 2 centers.

They obviously are only going after expirings. Knowing that next year is going to be pretty bad free agency, that makes little to no sense but who would the get to come here and will Beal want out by then? I guess I'm almost at the point to just trade everybody and start anew.

Could Jabari still be a Disable player exception candidate? I have no idea if Mahimi would accept a buyout but would be wise to just waive him?

Contenders will give up assets for shooting at the dead line on short term deals all day long.

Thing is if he was that valuable he would have signed with someone this offseason, especially with all the cap space that was floating around.

2020 FA is bad for star free agents , but there are still under the radar guys like Montrez Harrell, Gallo, Jeremi Grant, and others along those lines .

Well we are still pretty shallow, so Parker could be back... and we have plenty of players that can be cut or bought out. McRae, Philips , Jones, miles and yes Ian. He's bassically dead money anyway. You can certainly cut him and move on.
