I also think it's fishy that Doumbouya hasn't played being kept out for precautionary reasons due to a hammy issue that has one of the beatwriters opining on twitter that Sekou might not play at all as a result now.

I'm scared of the price we might be willing to pay here. Kennard, 2020 FRP, 2022 FRP and Jackson/Galloway/Maker would be my take it or leave it, anything more I'd I'm comfortable walking away.

I worry Detroit brass might rather include Sekou and Thomas in place of Kennard - but I'd understand it I guess for "now" reasons.

Westbrook|Rose|Frazier|(Bone)
Kennard|Brown
Snell|Mykhailiuk
Griffin|Markieff
Drummond

We'd need 2-3 vet minimum signings from the remaining scrap heap of left overs.

I'm surprised we don't have more posters excited about the possibility of us getting a star guard!

Because he's 30, has a massive contract and cant shoot. He relies on athleticism to get by, when that goes, hes done. Taking on all that while giving up a lot of young and cheap assets? no thanks...

However....I would consider a Drummond/RJ for Westbook/Adams swap. That way we give up no young/cheap assets, but we take on a **** load of money. So even then, I probably say no.

No Kennard, no Sekou and no more than one future 1st, this should basically be a salary dump or walk away

Locking into 3+ years of Westbrook's albatross contract with him being in a severe decline since last year is asking for continued first round exits. I know the East is wide open, but Russ ain't it chief. We can't let desperation motivate to improve.

We can be the team that builds a team organically or we can be the team that continues to pursue the illusion of instant gratification.

We've experienced the latter for 10 years. Not sure why people want to experience it more.

Is it the same tho? Having Westbrook and Blake is waayy different than Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings. Us building organically is hoping to have those types of players Like WB and Blake.

Bringing on Westbrook would almost the same results as bringing on Iverson. There is a reason no star wants to play with him and he has never won anything. Not to mention that horrible contract for an aging star that can't shoot. He is losing that athleticism many remember hear are advocating for him..

The one thing that scares me is the Gores factor. When he talks, you can tell he knows nothing about basketball but he does not stars names. That is all it takes and you know that FO would not have the guts to tell him he is crazy, and will do whatever he says..

With Gores as your owner, you should be scared of trading for any aging star wiht a bad contract and what the Pistons would give up. He over paid for Griffin and he surely would do it for Westbrook. The Clippers could not believe how bad they swindled the Pistons for a contract they did not want at that point.

Seems like they want to make the playoffs while adding a good amount of youth at the same time, so if we deal shorter deals and only one future first, the only thing we're really hurting is our cap situation for the next few years. I think that's worth the risk.

No, it's not the same. They're bigger names and bigger costs, both in terms of money and cap space/assets in a trade. Are they better players? Sure. But not enough to make us contenders.

It's not fundamentally different.

Westbrook will never be a champion. Obviously a totally different player, but he's like Melo in that he will carry a bad/mediocre team, but he's also going to create a mid-tier cieling. A combination of Blake/Westbrook would win 50-55 games (if healthy) and get bounced in the 2nd round, with diminishing returns after that and no hope for the future.

So we'll probably do it.

the fact that so many fans here are not only willing to give up young assets but also MULTIPLE 1st rounders for Westbrook is blowing my mind.

The east is so wide open next season its possible that team can make the finals.

I don't understand why people struggle to grasp this. There's a reason the teams with these players want(ed) to tear it apart and start over. And seeing as we're not one player away, that's the same reason we SHOULDN'T want to deal them.

Heck, Blake has been great for us, and I still stand by that being the wrong move for us moving forward. Look at how the Clippers have turned it around since moving him. And no, I'm not talking about the PG13 trade and Kawhi signing. Leave those out entirely and just look at all of the assets Blake (and later Tobias) were converted into. Anyone who says we're better off with Blake and his contract in the next 3 years than those assets is not being honest with themselves.

"If" we get Westbrook, please don't jump on the bandwagon and start becoming his fan when we're winning. That's all I ask

I'll be rooting for him just like I rooted for Blake despite not wanting to get him in the first place. I'd have been delighted to be dead wrong and see the move become a success, but unfortunately despite his good play that hasn't happened. I support my team just as I have the last 10 years, even when they do things I don't agree with.

Don't presume tell me what to do or how to feel. That's all I ask.

Way too much to offer. Don't think Sekou can even be traded can he?

Thinking about it more, most I would offer is expirings and a 1st round pick

Huh? I'm not telling anyone what to do or how to feel? I'm just asking folks to keep the same opinions and energy when this team is winning "if" we get Westbrook.
