Dont shoot me for this but if we can get russ without losing Luke or sekou this kind of has a 04 pistons feel to it
Russ Chauncey
Luke rip
Snell/sekou prince
Griffin sheed
Drummond big ben
Rose hunter
Keef mcdyess
Like I said dont shoot me just a comparison more then anything but it does give a going to work pistons feel to it

You obviously hate Rip and Prince.
If we keep Sekou he'd be comparable to Darko.

Yeah im not seeing any of those comps aside from maybe Blakes but hes much better then
sheed at that point in his career. Chauncey didnt have the physical talent of Westbrook but a much higher IQ which is kinda what made alot of things click.
Still a nice roster in its own ways though

I want to believe you wanted to type "can't" here
The John Wall thread. The Andrew Wiggins thread. The Carmelo Anthony thread.
The desire to completely wreck your franchise's prospects for years to come in exchange for immediate gain that falls short of anything worthwhile is strong here.
Food for thought: Can you imagine the scenario where Golden State didn't have 2 of its superstars break themselves and they won again in the finals? Very, very plausible. And Toronto would have *nothing* due to Kawhi bolting. Just like all the sane people predicted.
Watch Toronto this year and imagine that being what happened....
You can imagine anything, but what happened was Toronto gambled and it paid off.
100%. But If they don't go all the way and Kawhi leaves then Ujiri doesn't even have a job. Gambling is definitely the appropriate word to use.

Okay, I won’t shoot you.
The comparison is pretty off base though. Westbrook and Chauncey are opposites. I wish Kennard could do what prime Rip could. Tony Snell is one dimensional, Tay was versatile. Ben and Sheed were maybe the best defensive front court of all time, Blake and Dre...well, you get the picture.
The only player better that their counterpart is Blake, and even then there are reasons some might prefer Sheed depending on situation. The rest are worse.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
I don't trade Doumbouya in any deal. He'd be blossoming right around the time Westbrook comes a total albatross. That juxtaposition would cause suicidal* thoughts.
Kennard and a future FRP is their "asset" return, along with dumping that huge contract for expirings. Kennard can show out while Westbrook is still good and we're competitive now. FRP would be 20+ hopefully anyways.
*Piston Fandom Suicide.

I do appreciate the disclaimer.
I finally started to approve of the general direction for this team. These reports of Westbrook fly in the face of that agenda and it’s kinda bumming me out.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
from an OKC fans:
I appreciate how hard Westbrook plays and is always going at 100% but he cant win a ring unless he changes his style of play. I know he was more passive last year but he still shoots the ball way too much and he shoots way more 3s than he should. He gets exposed every single year in the playoffs and I could name 5 other point guards that I would rather have on my team despite having inferior stats.
Russ is the worst type of player to have on your team in the modern NBA. A league in which every elite team preaches ball movement and “smart” shots...........
--------------------------------------------
whatever happens with Russ, I don't expect it to drag out to much further. There are few teams who could actually have what OKC would want to do it..AND even fewer who would even want to take that contract on with his style of play and diminishing skills. ..we will see who blinks first...

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
Are people really in here saying they wouldn’t give up Sekou and Kennard in a deal for RUSSEL FREAKING WESTBROOK?!?!?!? You people must have Rodney Stuckey jerseys in your closet and a Ben Gordon bobble head.
We must do anything and everything to get Westbrook at any and all cost. I am sick and tired of what the pistons have become since Chauncey got traded and will not stand for mediocrity. I wasn’t happy that we traded for Blake because I wanted to tank and rebuild but that’s obviously not the direction this franchise is headed in so might as well give up what we can to get Westbrook.
Westbrook Blake and Drummond is a big 3 that can win the eastern conference this year especially with KD being hurt and LeBron and Kawhi headed West.
Reggie Langston Kennard Sekou and 2 firsts will get the deal done and the salaries match up for it to work. Pistons might not have to give up 2 firsts but if we have to outbid the Rockets, Heat and/or Timberwolves we should most definitely include whatever we can give to get Russ. I’m tired of the same old rhetoric and with Bruce Brown and Khyri Thomas on our roster we really don’t even need Kennard
Russ / Rose / Frazier / Bone
Brown / Thomas / Servydis
Snell / Svi
Blake / Morris
Drummond / Maker
Sign Zaza back and find some veteran wingmen to fill out the roster and we are a top team in the East.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
It's nice to see people are still wanting some kind of miracle "rebuild" over the chance of landing a 30 year old MVP player to pair with two fellow all-NBA players.
Just cant please some people I swear. It's not like hes 34 or something.
If the Pistons manage to keep Kennard that starting lineup would be killer;
Westbrook
Kennard
Dont care
Blake
Andre
That's a damn good team, with two players squarely in their prime, with another all-star moving into theirs(Andre).
Good luck getting any rebuild with that level of talent. Besides that, if it seems they are still maybe one more piece away from being over the top, you try and make another move to do it.

No I don't hate them.
Let me explain my comparisons
Russ and Chauncey. Your allstar pg who can make shots and get others involved
Luke rip. Your shooter. Yes luke is not the talent that rip is but I'm saying it as more of a both can be and were catch and shoot guys
Snell and prince are both 3 and D guys. Yes prince was a little bit more versatile but in the comparison here I'm saying they are 3 and d is the comparison
Blake and sheed. Your all star pfs who are your vocal leaders. They are both emotional and play and played hard every night
Drummond big ben. Your defensive rebounding big man. Yes Drummond is not the defender big ben was but is at least solid on defense and is a great rebounder
Didnt say they were better just that it had that feel of the same philosphy

These are definitely his faults and its that stupid chucking. I know its easier said then done but if we could tame him in you you then have a MVP caliber player who sets historical records.

This is just so incredibly disrespectful to the "Going To Work" Pistons.
Even got a player wrong... I almost got triggered by this.

Yup. It would be the most talented Pistons team in quite a long time, and would be fun as hell to watch.Liqourish wrote:zeebneeb wrote:It's nice to see people are still wanting some kind of miracle "rebuild" over the chance of landing a 30 year old MVP player to pair with two fellow all-NBA players.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
Question:
Which lineup is better
1)
Westbrook
PG
Adams
2)
Westbrook
Blake
Drummond
Lineup 1 never made it out of the first round. People in here thinking we would be a good chance to make the ECF and the finals?

Problem is even if you tame him, he is a 29% 3 pt shooter and likely not getting better. Casey even said yesterday on the telecast their largest downfall was they could not hit the open 3s that they were getting. They need shooting. And we want to add an aging all star who can't shoot and is ball dominant. He could be a great distributor but that is not his make up or nature. I don't think you can change that at 30.. He has played with some top all stars at OKC and what has that got them. Again, if we just gave up cap space for OKC benefit, than do it. but to leverage the future to move up to the 6th or 7th seed. HIs style does not win championships, while it might be exciting for a few games, this would ultimately keep us in purgatory just longer with that contract...

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
Owning Khryi Thomas and Bruce Brown means we have the depth to trade away Kennard. Idk why ppl are so up in arms for the theory of us moving on with him to get an MVP player like Westbrook back. If Westbrook had a pistons jersey on this season half the ppl in here wanting to keep Kennard will forget his name.

We even bypass the good players in the draft for some random players (whose production you could have gotten in a trade or FA).
When is this magical rebuild going to happen when the guys we draft can't even make it to the end of their rookie contracts here?
